We had dinner here with 4 persons, the food was excellent but seriously overpriced. But I guess you pay for the views which are amazing. The service started out well but our waiter had to leave and the one that replaced him did not pay any attention to us. We had to ask for the bill several times. All in... More

We came here for the view, as we were told was the best in Paris. And it really was. The ambiance is very hip and trendy. The food was really good, nothing to die for, but we enjoyed it. I love the Mandarin Duck in all Costes restos, it's always the best option on their menu. We had such a... More

There is a special set of elevators to whisk you to the restaurant on the 6th floor. You do not need to pay the Pompidou entrance fee to dine. Reservations, easy to make online, recommended. You can view all of Paris from the wrap around windows. The shrimp tempura I had for lunch was breaded, not the batter I expected,... More

In the famed George V (less classy than it's been for sometime - what is with so many flowers and shiny sculptures - looks like a Las Vegas funeral parlour). A warm welcome, very good food, surprisingly good value, modern to contemporary setting - an odd crowd. Had a nice evening and worth exploring.

We were in Paris for a combination of work and pleasure and old Parisian friends recommended Le Georges. Finding our way in proved a bit of a challenge, probably chatting too much. The staff were young, gorgeous, full of humour and the setting pretty special. The food was excellent and better than expected as I am a little cynical re... More

The views from this restaurant are truly splendid, even on the dark rainy day in January when we visited. It's at the top of the Pompidou, so it's the most obvious place to stop for lunch when visiting the centre. The restaurant has a chic, clean look, and the staff are always professional and attentive. The food was undoubtedly fairly... More

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
