My wife recommended the restaurant to me, so I made my way over for dinner one night, and wasn't disappointed! The menu is typically French, although their claim to fame is the Poule au Pot, which my wife thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered the steak au poivre, which was cooked to perfection. I made the mistake of getting the salad, which... More

I went here with my boyfriend last Friday night for a belated valentine's dinner and it was brilliant. The service was excellent (they had lost our booking but it was no problem, they found us a table anyway), and also let us move when we were next to a VERY noisy chewer (no exaggeration...he was terrible!!). The waiters were lovely,... More

This is our first meal in France. Having just arrived at our airbnb flat, we are looking for somewhere close and authentic. As it would turn out we came across this wonderful and charming small restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. We had perfectly cooked in season scallops as well as a beautiful chicken in the pot. I would recommend this... More

I have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world. Sometimes they live up to their reputation and sometimes they don't. This restaurant however, offered a new experience. The tables were jammed in to such a degree that getting out from behind your table to visit the toilet facilities was impossible without the help of the removal men... More

This restaurant is the best of what small restaurant dining in Paris is about. Our waiter was fantastic - and the food was superb (you have to try the spinach salad with chicken livers).

Possibly my favorite French traditional restaurant in Paris. The food is outstanding and so is the service and ambience. Perfect. Go!

Me and my wife went there quite early, we sat at the room behind the bar and had a cheese plateau and wine. The place was very classic and cosy, the staff was very caring and happy.

About the same as it was 70 years ago, probably, still serving classic bistro meals--stewed chicken, kidneys in mustard sauce, crenels brûlée, and so on. Service was good, but we were lucky to be early or we couldn't have gotten a table at all. We were pleased but not wowed.

La Poule au Pot was our first dining experience in Paris and it was the most incredible way to start our trip. We visited the restaurant around 2 am and were one of two tables in the establishment. It felt like stepping back in time with the decor, the service and the music. Simply superb. Can't say enough amazing things.... More

Stunning first meal in Paris, the best of our trip! We had the cote de boeuf for main with Bearnaise sauce, was absolutely amazing cooked to perfection and cut and served at the table. Lovely bottle of Poulle Fume, perfect evening! Thank you for an amazing first night in Paris!!!

Open all night from 7pm to 5am , you are welcome in an authentic 1930's restaurant where stands a beautiful old "zinc". Do not be surprised to meet international stars because the owner Paul Racat who looks after this Parisian institution has built a solid reputation.

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
