Valentines Day in Paris? Oh yes it`s fun and its near my wife`s birthday. When I asked her what she would like for her birthday I was thrilled with her response.Having previously eaten at Coupole, Dome, Select and Lilas it seemed that it was time to try La Rotonde on Feb 14th. BIG MISTAKE--it was crowded, fixed menu and "fixed" prix.... More

Upon entering, the host was welcoming and polite however the server and manager did not deliver reasonable hospitality for many reasons. The menu offers PRIME STEAK, however this is far from the truth. I was served a poorly prepared flank steak. I asked the waiter what cut of prime steak was on the menu, and the response was vague, "prime".... More

Historic brasserie and very well known. Quality of food is average and the menu offers what you'll expect in a restaurant that is described as 'typical Paris' in every travel guide. Yo'll find the same dishes and the same quality in any other brasserie all over France but here you'll pay more because of the reputation of the restaurant. Not... More

When in Paris, try a bistro, try a brasserie. Last time I was in Paris had bad experiencies with Bofinger and Gallopin. La Rotonde is a good brasserie. Good seating, nice service and the oysters. What else.

We had had some so-so meals in the area, but didn't want to pay to much. La Rotonde, which was recommended by our concierge, gave us a VERY good meal and drinks at a price that wasn't unreasonable and it was a memorable experience. If you can get by with a menu in French, ask for it, because not everything... More

La Rotonde was recommended by our hotel for lunch. My husband and I arrived and had to wait during the busy lunch crowd. It wasn't a big deal as they seated us fairly quickly. My husband ordered the crispy shrimp and I ordered the Caesar Salad. The shrimp was good and seemed to be favorite among the crowd. My Caesar... More

La Rotonde, in the Montparnasse area, is surrounded by its worthy competition, La Coupole and Le Dome, among others. They are all superb; La Rotonde was recommended by a local Parisian who overheard me inquiring about sole (my weakness) at another restaurant. He said La Rotonde served the best sole in the city. I am not sure that is the... More

Want to enjoy a Parisian restaurant in the footsteps of famous artists, such as Pablo Picasso? If yes, visit this 100 years old and famous Café de la Rotonde. Frequented also by many world-famous people such as Ernest Hemingway, Henry Miller and Scott Fitzgerald!!! The food and service were excepcional. Fabulous salads, oysters and duck (Canard à l'orange). The french... More

Our hotel concierge recommended La Rotonde and we were so glad she did! The staff was so gracious and the food was excellent. We really enjoyed our meal. We shared goat cheese in pastry and shrimp wontons. We had steak and sea bass for our main courses and a napoleon for dessert. So good!

This is not really a brasserie, quite a good restaurant, pretty expensive also. The staff is friendly and the quality of food is good but quite expensive though. Also it is not really for kids as there is no much choice of food suitable for kids.

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
