On the rue de la Butte aux Cailles, organized as a "workers cooperative". Interesting truly French ambience. We dropped in for a drink one afternoon just as a cloudburst surprised us while wandering the Butte. Interestingly, it only has a "Level 1" permit, meaning that...More

Followed a nice walk around this neighborhood from a Paris guide. The guide highly recommended a stop at Le Temps des Cerises, calling it the hub of the neighborhood and best dining option of the area. We have been visiting Paris for 30 years. I...More

If you want to visit La Butte aux Cailles to see some street art, Le Temps des Cerises is a good choice for a lunch break. The restaurant is run as a SCOP, collaborative, which is unusual for a restaurant. They service good French food....More

We had a big anniversary lunch here, complete with a bottle of excellent champagne. The restaurant is run as a cooperative, and the service is good, but perhaps a little more independent than in some places - perhaps because the memory of the Commune is...More

Far off the beaten path, this part of Paris is a
forgotten gem worth exploring. Avenue d’Ivry houses
Europe's largest Chinatown with great Asian
supermarkets and shops, and a thrilling atmosphere
around Chinese New Year. Place d’Italie impresses
onlookers as soon as they set their eyes on it. Not
far, around La Butte aux Cailles, the streets suddenly
imitate provincial France and you’ll feel like you’ve
