This ended up being our most expensive meal on our recent Paris trip, but is was certainly the most memorable. We had dinner on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was pretty crowded. My fiance had lamb shank served over a tomato and white bean sauce - it was amazing, and I opted for steak frites with bernaise. Also, delicious.... More

We did not stop here to eat, so my review is of the location, great view from the terrasse, and drinks. After an afternoon spent at the Place des Vosges, we wanted a cafe where we could sit outside, and have coffee, wine, whatever, to kill time before dinner. This fit the bill. Absolutely wonderful view of the Place!! Our... More

I came to this place thinking it was not that good but convenient. I was wrong. It's a great place. The staff is amazing and the wine selection is out of this world. They are perfect, helpful and nice. Plus it's one one of the best Paris ' place.

I recently ate lunch in this restaurant with a colleague. The food is quite good and the overall experience favorable. My one criticism, which is important in a period flu epidemic, is the absence of soap in the washroom!

No doubt the place is charming, old-worldly and very good food, but the niceties end there. Before entering the place my partner and I checked out the prices outside. They offered a rather expensive menu, at 38€, but chose it nevertheless because it looked good. Once we ordered the food we made the selection from the section clearly marked under... More

We were at the Marais, and it started raining so we entered this restaurant. The food was OK but nothing special. the place is small and people sit on on top ofthe other. The service was efficient and the food - nothing special. I find it difficult to recal what we ate there. Yona S.

They did't use the best ingredients--olive oil was cheap. Hareng was too fishy. Wait staff was ok, but the maitre d was not welcoming, and the vibe in the restaurant was bad. The only redeeming quality was the bannister up the stairs to the toilettes. avoid this restaurant.

Sadly, the restaurant has become a mediocre tourist trap -- out whom there is nonetheless little concern. Cheap ingredients, careless cooking. Avoid if at all possible.

The cadre OK...nice outside...way too squeezed inside...toilet upstairs in which hand dryer makes a huge noise, chemical smells descend to dining area and flow of persons to and from bathroom is very disruptive. Food was not very good (saucisse de Lyon and petit sale) and expresso very poor. I judge the restaurant to be poor enough to merit my effort... More

On our first night we went close by to the border of Place des Vosges to Ma Bourgogne for a late dinner. I tried one of the specials, Gigot d’Agneau which is leg of lamb. It came with beautiful beans. Angus had the steak frites (‘faux filet’ or sirloin) and Catherine had a nicoise salad.

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
