We enjoyed sharing a reasonable marinated chicken kebab, à la carte, and a 'formule'/fixed price meal of: Borani Banjan - Afghan Eggplant With Yogurt Sauce, Kabuli palawo (tender veal under rice with nuts, raisins and spices), and a creamy cardamom flavored flan with some chopped pistachios on top; with a pitcher of rose wine. Appreciated the friendly service in this... More

After spending five days being vegetarian we end up in Paris..being hustled at the champs elysees, and finally run into this little restaurant purely by chance. Lovely quaint place with Afghan rugs on the wall and a retired Afghan diplomat owner who is also the cook. The Kabuli pulaw is amazing. The host Mr Feroz was a lovely gent who... More

An excellent (and cheap!) meal in a difficult part of town (assuming you want to avoid tourist traps and don't feel like going to a cafe). Cosy interior and friendly service. Try the Qabuli Palaw.

Get a solid meal for about 10 Euros. Meat/Veggie/Rice combo plate plus a custard-type dessert gives solid value, and tastes fine. This Afghan/Persian food place is a fine fit for the university student's Latin Quarter.

We found Kootchi while wandering the streets of the Latin Quarter, looking for something different. I've eaten there twice now, and both times we were very pleased with the experience. I should note that this is the only Afghan food I've ever eaten, so I don't have a reference point for its authenticity, but we found it an excellent break... More

The starter (soup) was clearly microwaved (I watched them do it) but it tasted pretty good. The leek raviolis were not bad, but the entire dish was somewhat bland and the flavors didn't taste 'fresh'. The dessert really ruined the meal- another microwaved dish that seemed to have been sitting in the refrigerator for a few days too many. It... More

We read about this place in a travel guide and were quite satisfied with the lunch menu. Sure, it's not the greatest food you can have in Paris, but it's decently priced, decently located, and was a nice way to have our first Afghan food experience. It can be a cheap eat but be careful: the lunch special doesn't include... More

We had no idea what we were ordering exactly but everything was very tasty, not too spicy but quite flavorful.

A cute, cozy little place with friendly service, but I wasn't pleased to pay 18E50 for what amounted to two cups of tea, one cut-up tomato with sauce, a huge mound of white rice and a bowl of mushy, bland lentil soup. If I were a meat-eater, I could have chosen the 15E menu, so perhaps meat eaters will have... More

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
