A group of 6 of us ate here for dinner. February in Paris was cold but they had a fire going and we were warmly greeted. Enjoyed 4 half carafes of great house wine. Roasted goat cheese salad was huge and deli Jo's. Preserved leg of duck was succulent as was sauteed potatoes. Finished with profiteroles. Would go back for... More

We came in for a bite to eat before going to the cinema. We had a few hours for our meal, so we were certain not to miss the film. We chose to sit on the patio where you can smoke. The waiter came out and instead of taking our order, he just told us where the toilettes were. We... More

I've been there with my brother and all dishes we ordered tasted very good. we odered a three-course dinner. The price was favorable and the selections on the menu looked better than the other restaurants'. We walked around for 30 min till we've decided to have dinner there. I think, we made a good decision. Only thing I wanted to... More

It's a great place to dine in with friends and family members. Cozy atmosphere, good service, cool terrace. Not the ideal place to be with 22 year-old friends, but ideal with relatives. Usually i order the 20 euro meal/menu, and i think it's really good.

This is a nice cafe just down the road from the Pantheon, which offers meals at decent prices which would be a good option for lunch. They have 2 course set menus for under 15 euros, which is very reasonable in Paris. It isn't fine dining food, but it is definitely decent. A good place for a quick and filling... More

Paris is generally extremely expensive to eat out and La Brouette was a nice change. They have a 2 course set menu for a good price and the food is both tasty and plentiful. It is not fine dining, exquisite Parisien cuisine but it is good food at a reasonable price. The staff were helpful and welcoming, as well as... More

We visited this place because it was the only restaurant in Rue Descartes which was open at about 6pm on a Saturday evening. there are several fixed-price menus which is great if you are on a budget. We ordered from a menu priced at 14.50 euros, and had onion soup as a starter (very good), mustard chicken with green beans... More

There are tons of restaurants in this neighborhood, yet many of them are awful. This restaurant initially drew us in with its great deal on the plat du jour. We returned for dinner three times during our 9 day stay in Paris and the third time we showed up, the owner sent over two glasses of wine on the house.... More

Since L’Epoque was closed this evening, we wandered the neighborhood seeking an alternative restaurant. We finally settled on La Brouette, on Rue Descartes. We ordered two pints of Affligem blonde and were served quickly. We decided to have: • Entrees: Salad with thinly sliced smoked duck; mussels in a cheese sauce • Dinners: we both enjoyed duck confit with fried... More

La Brouette offers a number of fixed menus at reasonable prices. The food is merely ok, and there are certainly better options right near by. On the other hand, it is very nice place to eat outside, and the staff is friendly and efficient. I would hive it 3.5 stars if that were possible, but round down for the French... More

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
