What a great cafe for after hour drinks. Drink: True Parisian drinks with a twist. The drinks are pure alcohol and made with care. The Decor: Relaxed cafe with a club feel. Great music and great ppl to chat with at night. The staff: The bartender is great eye candy. They are friendly and a friendly attitude. Love to chat... More

The bartender spoke excellent English and was extremely nice. The drinks are excellent. It doesn't look like much on the outside but inside it is very nice. Seems like locals come here.

Situated near our hotel, it was a short walk to experience restaurants that locals frequent. Seating is limited, as it is a cozy place for a roundez vous or just a quick bite of good food in an intimate setting. Our waiter, Mr. Roskin, was attentive, and not overbearing. Since the place is small, one could catch his attention if... More

Three of us had lunch in Carpe Diem Cafe, delicious! The sweet potato fritter starter was perfect, crunchy outside, hot and flavorful inside. The roasted camembert salad was great, too. Our special of the day was salmon, cooked perfectly with a delicate white sauce, with the best mashed potatoes ever, creamy and full of butter. The steak was the most... More

The outside certainly doesn't entice you in, but on a recommendation we decided to try it one evening. Inside you're transported somewhere else entirely - it's a lovely cosy bistro with a great vibe. It's frequented by lots of local Parisians (always a good sign!) and began to really buzz as the evening went on. The menu is reassuringly small,... More

We stopped for a quick lunch here as it was close to our hotel. The ambiance is nice and the food was good, although my cheeseburger, which was ordered medium, was actually rare. It was still delicious and I didn't feel the need to send it back.

We were staying near this restaurant/cocktail lounge and visited for a drink one night. The cocktail was outstanding, ambience ++, staff delightful.Next night different story.one staff member, appalling service, we nearly walked out. Consequently didn't try to eat there. Dommage !

Typical French. Restaurant was full. But the service was adequate. Sympathic atmosphere, but nothing special.

We were not sure what to expect given some of the reviews, however we decided to give it a try since it was near our hotel. We certainly made the right choice. We got there in the very early evening and were seated right away. We had a very nice waiter who upon our request offered dinner suggestions. He was... More

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
