A gem in a touristy area; not cheap but what do you expect so close to Notre Dame? Book ahead for peak times (via website) and don't get frustrated if your table isn't quite ready for you - it's this busy with locals because it's good. It's a mid-range restaurant and not Haute Cuisine - this is the best sort... More

We had a family meal here tonight and it was perfect. Simple French food, cooked perfectly, with very friendly service. Plenty of French people dining and drinking in the bar and a lovely warm ambience. Even the 1980/90s English alternative music sound track added to the the vibe. Well priced and unpretentious.

This was just a block or two from Notre Dame and the many touristy restaurants - worth heading down the side streets! We both had great meals -my husband had the duck breast and I had braised beef. Rustic charm and friendly staff. Recommend making a reservation as the dining area is quite small, although they fit us in without... More

Au Bougnat is just a short block off of Rue d'areole the street that runs into the Notre Dame Cathedral. Quaint looking on the outside. Divided between a bar area with a few table and chairs and a try dining are to the left as you enter. Dining area is not large, maybe seating for 30. i believe that the... More

We visited after searching nearby restaurants. We did not have a reservation as we planned to be there early. To my surprise, at 12 noon, the restaurant was packed. Luckily they had one open table. We opted for 3 course lunch. We ordered terrine des foie gras, escargot ravioli, braised beef, chocolate lava with ice cream and creme brûlée and... More

Our family traveling from US to Paris on holiday went to Au Bougnat based on trip advisor rating! We were cold and walked in without a reservation which I highly recommend. The manager was reluctant to seat us because the restaurant was fully committed that evening but she had a small window of time before her other party came in.... More

I went there on Saturday for a late lunch. The place was nice and characteristic. I had a nice glass of bordeaux and salmon with a puree made of fennel I think. I was tasty and light at the same time. The location is good too...5 minutes walk from Notre-Dame.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
