we always stop by here when in Paris. It can get busy but worth a wait. Cozy and simple food (well simple for French food which is spectacular)

Perfect on all aspects ! Food is simple but tasty and generous - the chocolate fondant is the best I ever had. Very good formula ( 29€ for three courses) and last but not least the service is super nice ! And location is perfect for a little digestive walk after such a good diner!

Surprisingly non-touristy, given its proximity to Notre Dame, Au Bougnat is a cozy, inauspicious option for French cuisine. We had dinner here at about 8:30pm and enjoyed the fact that it wasn't full of other tourists, and wasn't crazy busy. The menu is limited, but the food is good and prepared well. Our mains were not huge, but were very... More

We were a group of 13 visiting Paris on a day trip from the UK. This restaurant was chosen for its location (a quiet side street within 5 minutes of Notre Dame) and because we could have an early evening dinner (6pm - to allow time to catch our Eurostar train home). For most of our meal we had this... More

Au Bougnat was just around the corner from our small but perfectly formed apartment on Quai aux Fleurs in Paris and the Dear one and I had visited for coffee on our first visit out in Paris this time. We reserved a place for a 6.30 dinner. We arrived and were seated by a charming waitress who enjoyed our high... More

Still enjoying a wonderful dinner at Au Bougnat. Small quiet spot on a side street behind Norte Dame. The 3 course prix fix meal was 28 Euros. We enjoyed asparagus, escargot ravioli, cod, shrimp risotto, strawberry tiramisu, and an apple tart. Every dish was superb. The wait staff was very nice. They apologized because our on-line reservation hadn't made it... More

I came here in April, at the time it was run by French Canadians so language wasn't a problem. It was a Sunday lunchtime, we hadn't booked but no problem getting a table. Great location just by Not really Dame Cathedral. Food delicious, good portions and reasonable prices.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
