Instead of buying useless gifts, head to Lafayette gourmet and enjoy the huge selection of sweets and foods perfect for gifting. I loved the selection of candy! Everything at excellent prices in comparison to small shops around Paris.

The Pret a Manger is good to go. They serve a decent flat white, pain au chocolate, normal & almond croissants - a great start for the day. Other food stalls are several patisseries which offer decadent macarons and desserts. Our favourite haunt is the Pret a Manger for the coffee and croissants.

The food store used to be in the Lafayette Department Store but it is now a free standing store 35 Boulevard Hausmann , across the street . There are 3 floors of amazing food and related items . You enter and don't know what to look at first . The chocolate shaped like a shoe, cakes to pretty to eat... More

Busy and crowded, it's a buffet cafe in a shopping centre, only bonus is you get a good view of the Eiffel Tower while having lunch

This market has lots of eating places plus takeout as well. There is also an amazing spice store plus a Pret Manger which started in the UK as well. Give it a try you may find something you like here. the Doctor hit me with a helpful vote!

My wife and I visited the Jambon counter at the Lafayette Gourmet while we were wandering around Paris during a rainy day. Nothing like charcuterie to turn a frown upside down. I really enjoyed the Lafeyette Gourmet, particularly the jambon and fromage plate that I ordered. A little pricey but delicious nonetheless. Overall, the Lafeyette is very similar to most... More

This is a large multi floor building dedicated to food and cooking accessories. There is a very large wine shop and also a large supermarket on the lower floor which carries many different type of French foods . The items are a little pricey but quality is excellent. It is very convenient to have this so close to the major... More

If your hotel is near here, skip any other grocery or supermart . You can get everything here and the price is very much the same and they provide paper bags too. Especially good for tourists as sometimes we forgot to bring out the recycled shopping bag when buying mineral water or snacks back. I bought maxim's choco to try... More

Paris has quite a few chocolate and macaron shops, and this place hosts some if the best ones in one place, which makes it great for comparing between them. I did not have much time for shopping during my trip and was able to find great chocolates and macarons here from some of the most famous Parisian brands. They also... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
