We are vegetarian and are often stuck to find suitable food in France and Indian and Italian are our usual go to’s. We were excited when we found this place which is tucked away in a nice part of the old town. We ordered two...different dishes but they both tasted the same and were bland and lacked much spice or taste. It may be better for non veggies but we were disappointedMore

We ate here on a midweek afternoon and went for the cheap set lunch ‘plat du jour’ for two. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much, how wrong can you be? The meal was very tasty and not greasy at all, the downfall of many...curry houses. With a perfectly acceptable carafe of wine it came in at a staggeringly cheap €30 for two. I had given up on finding a decent curry house in Lille, I am happy to say Le Gan’ge appears to fit the bill. We are looking forward to a revisit and sampling the full menu.More

Very pleasant little restaurant serving good curries. The choice was limited but then coming from Britain we are spoilt where Indian food is concerned. Food was tasty and portions decent sizes. Staff were very friendly too

Service was prompt and friendly and helpful, and the food was great! We were recommended to go to another slightly more expensive Indian restaurant near there, and we did, but felt we much preferred Gan'ge's food, and it was cheaper as well!

Called in with no booking and were seated right away, nice atmosphere and very helpful waiter, he was on his own so rushed off his feet, service was quick and the food tasty. He recommended Indian wine and I must admit it was quite nice....Reasonably priced as well.More

We always like to try an Indian Restaurant when visiting new cities across Europe. We picked Le Gang'ge as it was one of a few Indian restaurants actually open in Lille on a Sunday. The interior of Le Gan'ge is very easy on the eye,...dark grey walls mixed in with a red wall at the far end made us feel very relaxed. The waiter spoke good English and took our order quickly. The starters were a hit , we shared a plate of Pakora Oignons, better known in the UK as Onion Bhajis! They were cooked to perfection and had a very good flavour. Our second starter was a delightful Lamb Shish Kebab, the meat was excellent and was made even tastier with the various added herbs and spices. Sadly the main courses were a bit of let down. My girlfriend ordered the chicken tikka massala and pulled a very long face after her first mouthful of food. The sauce was very peculiar. I had a taste myself, it was very smoky, and not at all how a massala sauce should taste. Also the meat used in the chicken tikka massala was chicken thigh meat and unfortunately not very good quality, where as my chicken madras was cooked with chicken breast meat and tasted a lot nicer. Although it could have been mad a bit spicier. So overall slightly disappointing , couldn't fault the setting and the staff or the starters, but the main courses were a big let down. Also the bill was very expensive for what we had.More

We ended up in this restaurant because the others were fully booked. It was a nice surprise, cosy restaurant, friendly staff and most important: food was very nice!

It was a sweltering hot evening and the proprietor asked if we'd like to dine in the cellar. We thought this might be because there no tables free in the dining room (despite the fact that we'd booked!). However the cellar turned to be very...nice and was also cool. I had the Lamb Marsala which was superb and my wife had the Lamb Korma which was also very good. The "fruity" red Kasmiri rice was a lovely accompaniment along with a freshly baked Keema Nan. The house rose wine was good value. All that plus milky coffees came to 55 euros; exceptional value for money for an "Olde City" restaurantMore

It's very difficult to find restaurants in France that have vegetarian choices on the menu, so we often find ourselves seeking out Indian restaurants. We happened to come across this restaurant as it was just round the corner from the hotel we were staying in...and it was a very lucky find. The service was brilliant, a bonus that the waiter spoke English, food was really good with extremely generous portions. Would definitely go there again should we go back to Lille.More
