I heard many lyonnaises praise this place and consider it a landmark in Lyon. I think it is in a very beautiful area. The food is good, but it did not impress me. The personnel cannot speak any English, which is surprising for a place of this standard. The vegetarian options were basically not existing. I have to say I... More

While visiting friends in Lyon, we dined at Brasserie Le Splendid on a busy Friday evening. Our waiter was friendly and did his best to please all guests at our table, including my non-French speaking husband. The cuisine lived up to the name of the restaurant - it was SPLENDID! I enjoyed a Lyonnaise specialty, Quenelles de Brochet, which are... More

French colleagues of mine recommended the "Le Splendid" in Lyon for a business dinner - well done! Reservation over the internet in English worked fine! Soon after my request I got a confirmation per Email and SMS. Interrior of the resteramt is impressing; a mixture of modern style and teadition. Table was waiting for us in quiet rear of the... With most restaurants in Lyon closed on Sundays, it was a sense of relief that filled us when we arrived outside le Splendid, Beautifully situated, 10 minutes walk from the railway station at Part-Dieu in Lyon, the sun-dappled terrace looked out onto a tree-lined sqare with only the pigeons to disturb the tranqullity. A bottle of champagne gave us a... More

Visited wirh my french friends. Had filet mignon for a starter, than snails, frog legs and finished off with a desert. We all had a very good time. Staff was attentive and spoke english to non-french people. Food was brilliant.

This summer I picked up Julia Child`s book on France and I immediately understood how she fell in love with France and its food. In the book she talks about duck a l`orange and I called the restaurant to ask about it and they agreed to make it. The chef prepared an excellent duck,, done to perfection and the accompanying... The service was ok, Starters fine but the main course we had were not good. The liver was a bit overcooked (some parts). The dumpling main course was not good. Overall the price was way too high for this place.

Very nice food, well cooked. Staff speak English but happy to let you try your French. Be careful as liqueurs very expensive.
