We loved this place! We walked in with no reservation and they made room for us with just a few minutes wait. We somehow got a lovely corner candlelit booth which was wonderful. They have great German cuisine, wines, and desserts. I tried to speak my terrible German, but they are happy to speak English and they have an English... More

My husband believed he made a reservation directly with the restaurant through their website. Upon our arrival no reservation could be found but management created a table for us close to the bar and apologized for the misunderstanding. I'm not sure whose fault it really was but we very much appreciated their gesture and accepted the table. We were given... More

We chose the restaurant based on the Tripadvisor comments. Extremely nice building in the center. Menu is quite local/german but I quess everyone can find something to eat... We had wienerschnizels of course - worth of money. Frienly staff and nice&gozy atmosphere.

Expectations were a bit higher than the actual experience. We also compared it to other restaurants where we dined during this trip and "Very Good" is the best rating I can give.

A small restaurant with delightful food. We made reservations on line and were seated in a private alcove/booth. Quite nice! Service is outstanding, wine is good and setting cozy. You will need reservations!

This Restaurant has all the necessary elements to make it (in the B E S T way possible) unforgettable: excellent Wine-selection, yummy Food, impeccable service and great Atmosphere. Add to that the Location (heart of Old Town) and the fact we came with NO reservation, but we're given a Table within 2 Minutes after Arrival. Hat off!

My family of five stumbled into this restaurant as we were looking to find a place to eat for lunch. We have small children (ages 3, 5, & 6) and were hoping that they had a children's menu. This restaurant is super charming, and as soon as we walked in we were greeted with a "Gruß gott". We were seated... More

We had a dinner here booked by friends we were travelling with. This restaurant is one of the oldest in Germany - some 600 years old and was rebuilt after the war. The evening was unforgettable with attentive staff and great cuisine. WE opted fro the more traditional German dishes - we were not disappointed. Highly recommended to any travellers... More

We were lucky again and managed to get a seat without a reservation - would strongly recommend anyone to make a reservation! Food was excellent and the waiting staff were helpful with recommendations. We booked dinner at this busy and popular place and were not disappointed. The service was excellent (and not patronizing). The food was great tasting and the Stachel wine was great. The price was reasonable and the setting was truly elegant. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Wurzburg. Enjoy!

The pulse of Franconia beats in the heart of Wuerzburg. You can feel it ? Or rather taste it - in the historic surroundings of the Stachel, which is a restaurant and wine bar. As a wine bar, the Stachel offers the best wines in Franconia. There is wine tasting every Saturday in the restaurant's very own wine cellar. You also need something solid to line your stomach, so that the wine does not go to your head. Franconian delicacies and the presentation is creative. He cooks authentically using locally sourced ingredients which are mostly organic ? And it shows in the taste.
