Doesn't exist anymore. Its being renovated and it is said that it will be a Russian restaurant. Same street you can find many others. Big Sur across the street has an Irish cooker, young clientele, good food. Brio Café Bistro is run by italian family, the owner, a young ladie cooks delicious small portions, order 2-3 dishes.

Nice atmosphere both inside and outside. There was several different breakfast plates to choose from and all was delicious.

Avril comes a long with fish dishes, that are not well cooked. A sprinkle of crema di balsamico does not make a good cook. I would not go there a second time.

Its really a super place for vegetarians, vegans and fish eaters. A real pescetarian restaurant. The fish soup is to die for! Slightly tomato sauce based, spicy, full of flavors and very delicious. The tuna steak was excellent. Big tables, which are far from each other, super place to have a discreet conversation or chit-chatty dinner.

Avril is a perfect place for a very berliny brunch. The only downside was even for a table of 3, paying for full price meals and drinking juice & coffee, we weren't given a glass of water. When we asked we were told, 'I can't give you a glass of tap water.' We asked why and were told that it... More

Bad ambience, noisy and a weird selection of food. Breakfast with calamari, gnocchi, cheese, salads, potato edges and mostly toast bread.

all three days spent in Berlin, I had my breakfast there. I love the fact that they offer healthy options, with very reasonable portions and reasonable prices. Really good Lattee Machiatto too, and a very friendly staff.

Went there for the Sunday brunch and loved it even before we started. A member of the staff noticed that we were at 9:30am checking the breakfast menu and camed outside to inform that the brunch starts at 10am and that due to the local popularaty they only have two tables left. Business oriented and thoughtfull = excellent. At 10am... More

We loved the atmosphere and great staff on all our visits. Coffee, food, wine and excellent Sunday brunch. I was so happy that it is a pesco-vegetarian restaurant and just along my alley. The level and style of the backround music was perfect. the whole experience was repetedly perfect.

A very beauiful place for coffee, beer, gluhwein or dinner. I tried the kasekuche (cheesecake) which was delicious. Great atmospere, interesting decoration very good prices, a little slow service but not that bad as the waitresses were very kiind and smiling. You can easily reach it from Alexanderplatz with U8 Schonleinstrasse stop (just 200 m. far from the U stop,... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
