I've tried to make a reservation for two but it was not possible, the man on the phone started to shout that he doesn't have tables...I was shocked - anywhere else in the work a restaurant with this "service" would close down immediately. When will Berliners change their horrible attitude?

We came here twice. Once for a few drinks - lovely 'what felt like' traditional atmosphere. Then back again for good wholesome food. Not pretentious , well cooked , great portions and good service. Need I say more. Very good.

Lovely atmosphere, as if you've stepped into someone's kitchen. Full of hearty german food and beer. Fairly generous helpings!

we had a lovely meal here. it was in a cellar and was a series of small spaces. We sat in a corner under a 'tree'. The meal was lovely - One Saurbraten with potato dumplings and red cabbage, one crispy duck leg with herb potatoes and green cabbage. Would go again.

During a 3-nights stay in Berlin it is a «must» to taste some real German food for dinner. We decided to visit a classic restaurant which at least myself had tried, many years ago. As our visit was during the travel fair ITB - the restaurant was quite full, but after a short waiting time we got a table. We both... More

Don't be fooled by the reasonable prices - portions are ginormous here! Had the Herringstöpfchen - which consists of several matjes filets (yum!) and rolmops (yuck!) in a little bowl with a separate large plate of condiments (all kinds of onions, gherkins, shredded carrots, butter & bread) - followed by the 2 Bratwürste - which in Berlin are about 4... As we were in the neighborhood we stop here to ask if we can make a reservation for dinner. The reply was no, no reservations. We went back in the night, they give us a table and there were a few with the card Reserve on top..... The waitress was unfortunately not helpful at all. The service was bad and... More

We 've been there some times in the past and it was always perfect. Whenever we are in Berlin we pay a visit. The portions are really big and the service really fast. The prices are normal by German standards and the environment typical German. I really love this place.

Walking through the city we found this restaurant and we decided to have some food. The atmosphere is great, full of people, nice decor but no one came to welcome us straight away. Really busy restaurant so it can happen but the attention for the guest isn't great. Noticed that with German Guest there is a particular touch which is... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
