After 2 days of fairs in Berlin we asked our driver to recommend a restaurant on the way to the airport. This is the place where he normally goes with his wife, was his anwser... I could reccon, we had a fresh and authentic Turkish lunch which was delicious. The staff was friendly and made it a pleasant last lunch... More

I was with a friend who lives in Germany, and swore that this would be some sort of exotic food for me who lives in the states. Turns out we also have very similar turkish food here, hence why i wasn't overly impressed by the food served by this establishment. I will say that the baklava was amazing. It is... More

Mainly meat food, quality is ok and the service is fast. Prices are in the average or just a bit more higher

Found this restaurant to offer very fast service and flavorful food for a good price point, would return on my next visit.

Came here by accident (was actually looking for a different place and went to a completely different part of the city). Was very happy with this place though and enjoyed it very much from start to finish. The hummus and eggplant starters were both delicious, and the bread that came with them was warm and fresh. The main was a... More

Pretty good Turkish food. A bit on the pricey side. I dont speak Turkish, and it didn't seem like their English was any good. Thankfully, we were with someone that spoke Turkish, so it was easy to order. Food came quick, it was all tasty. Don't really have any complaints. We came for lunch, and it was pretty empty.

Staff is incredibly unhelpful and uninterested in parties of single people. I got pointed to another restaurant where "the food is the same", and that's a direct quote.

We really enjoyed the food here. All freshly cooked on a charcoal grill. Portion was massive and price was very reasonable for the quality and size. Came with bread freshly baked in their in house wood oven which was also churning out Turkish pizzas. Only downside was they didn't accept card payment so had to go to ATM down the... More

Wandering around the Turkish shops and market stalls, we dropped into Hasir Ocakbasi for a mid-evening meal and were treated to excellent service and wide-ranging menu and some of the best pizza I have enjoyed outside Italy. Washed down with free Turkish tea (and a cold beer), it all made for a pleasant and enjoyable meal.

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
