I find most burgers in Europe rubbery and with a bad aftertaste. This place specializes in unusual burger toppings. Mine came with goat cheese, honey, tomatoes, and walnuts. Best of all, the beef was fresh and tender. And the restaurant is also a bookstore that carries some English books.

Joined a few colleagues in this residential area for something to eat, i.e. informal dinner. Food was fine (I had a typical German Flamkuchen), but nothing extraordinary. Straightforward, well prepared food. Service was good.

A Cute little café That sells books With breakfast and lunch. It closes quite early but is ideal for an intensive breakfast with family/friends. The service is a little slow (and I was there a couple of times) but the Atmosphere and good food/drink make that acceptable.

We have a nice breakfast in this bistro. My advice to save money: ask for the eggs and add bacon. It will be around 5.6€ instead of 8.5€. The same eggs and the same bacon with bread and butter. If you are a couple, small pressed coffee is also enough for two people. The view is fantastic and peaceful. Just... More

nice choice of breakfasts, fresh cakes and coffee. Coffee is really good, but the breakfast for 2 did not impress me at all, it was a bit boring and you can definitely get better breakfasts in Berlin. but i would come back there for coffee and cakes :)

We were at the Buchkantine in conjunction with a 70th birthday party and we liked the modern interior and the idea that one could enjoy a book while having a coffee, beer or some food. The food that we had was good and nicely presented. The staff did a good job to serve us and we had a very nice... More

We had breakfast here on a sunny Sunday and very much enjoyed it. The terrace is very nice with big trees giving nice shade and keeping things cool. The food is delicious and the service also good. Nice coffee as well. I've only been for breakfast so can't judge the food menu too well but I would be surprised if... More

The Buchkantine moved to a bigger and nicer place. There are many more outside tables now, and a big tree provides shade. The location is great, next to river Spree. The inside seating is OK, too. They have a small menu but additional dishes can be chosen from the black board. A real neighborhood place.

Staying in Moabit

Neighbourhood Profile
Moabit
You may not realize Moabit is one of the city’s most central neighbourhoods when you arrive at Hauptbahnhof (central station). Surrounded by waterways, Moabit is a quiet island protected from the hustle and bustle of Berlin. The crowds that do gather prefer spending their evenings in cozy restaurants over the party venues offered by other districts. With its beautiful parks, old housing and romantic industrial areas, life has traditionally been relaxed and a bit slower here. But the tone may soon be changing. Reasonable housing costs and proximity to city centre are attracting more young Berliners and international visitors. This interest is encouraging new bars, cafés and nightclubs, making Moabit a candidate for most up-and-coming neighbourhood in the city.
