Never have I been treated so badly in all my life. Shocked by this venue. The female serving was so rude I was left speechless as were onlookers. Yes there was a language barrier but we utilised google to overcome this and still were treated like dirt. Worst service in my life. So disappointed. My opinion and advice is avoid... More

The receptionist in the Grimm Hotel recommended this restaurant for traditional German food and it was so good, we visited twice. The interior has a lovely homely feel and the food is beautiful. We had the potato soup, the special plate (a mix of German pork dishes) and currywurst, all of which were delicious while the desserts of cake and... More

6 of us came here, a group of friends looking for some proper German nosh. The food came and everyone loved what they ordered. However, we were with a friend who spoke and understands German. The lady with black hair, mid 50's probably and looks like she owns the place with her husband working behind the bar, who served us... More

Great food, atmosphere, and beer. Close to Alexanderplatz. If you like pork, potatoes, and gravy, you will like this.

The Curry-Wurst is a deep fried canteen version of a bad tasting sausage; just a few fries as a side and overall not good.

The place is small and cute and decorated so well! The most authentic German restaurant I'd been to. The food was delicious, I had pumpkin soup and schnitzel and they were perfectly cooked and well priced. The lovely gentleman serving us was incredibly polite and gave the best service I've had over here! Truely a great experience, especially on a... More

This is an absolutely wonderful tavern in the awesome Nikolaiviertal District that is just a joy to visit for either a slap up meal or a delicious drink. The interior of Zur Rippe looks fabulous, dark wood tables and chairs, great decor and furnishings that give the tavern a really cosy feel and a tremendous outside seating area looking out onto the... Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
