We ate here three times out of our five night stay. All threee meals were excellent ant typically German, I.e huge portions and lots of meat and potatoes. Service was friendly and efficient. We particularly enjoyed the stmosphere snd the reasonable prices.

I visited this restaurant on 20/3, for starters I had one of the finest tomato soups I have ever tasted. Rich in colour, delicious in taste. Main course was average. Due to my thirst I ordered a half litre of beer the waiter recommended, uncharacteristicly for Germany the beer was "flat" & after two sips I asked the waiter to... More

What a place! Came by and read the menu and saw they offer a quick lunch for under 6 euros. Wow! Very friendly welcome, quite a host. Nice place, quaint décor. Nice service, helpful and informative. The quick lunch was great, it changes through the week. Very good deal! Tasty, not too much, and excellently priced. Enjoy!

Went to eat here as part of a school group. They served us Spatzle. While I found it very tasty, the students fount it to be only pretty good. The portion was also a bit tiny. The apple strudel afterwards was also very good.

A most splendid restaurant. As we ate early evening (six-ish) because of the children, we were given a table for 6 with plenty of elbow room. A truly wonderful selection of dishes, both traditional and international, and a friendly and helpful waiting staff. English restaurants could learn so much with a visit to Germany, in general, and Berlin, in particular.... More

I came as part of a school trip to this restaurant. While I couldn't eat a lot of the food due to dietary requirements, they catered for me perfectly. The ambiance and decor were very nice, and I am reliably informed that the authentic German cuisine was perfectly pleasant.

Eat here twice on our trip and loved it both times. Food is fantastic. Beer is great. Ambiance is so so. Much better food quality and selection than the Hofbrau Restaurant across the street.

We visited this place witout a reservation in Friday evening and lucky we we get a table for four. So make a reservation in advance. Even if it was a rush hour service worked perfectly. Friendly staff. What about food. Perfect Schweinshaxe. Huge steaks and of course perfect German beers. Go and enjoy.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
