We were looking for a good asian restaurant in Berlin, and so we discovered Tim Raue. We were really lucky to get the table the same day of booking. And we got the chefs table! Only when we came there, we realized it is a two star Michellin restaurant. So the "gourmet holiday" started. We took a 7 course menu.... More

My husband and I dined at this restaurant during our visit to Berlin. We had read about and thought we would allow ourselves this indulgence. As some of the pictures show, the food presentation is wonderful. I had the 8 course and my husband had six but added Peking duck. The different flavours, tastes and layers were delicious. We paired... More

The place is nice with a view into the kitchen. I think real gourmets will enjoy it more than someone who prefers good quality solid food. I couldn't appreciate the food combinations that were supposed to give an explosion of taste. But that is merely personal taste. I'm sure a lot of people really love it.

I had a great time at the restaurant Tim Raue. The staff was very kind, the place is beautiful and the food delicious. I took the degustation menu, with five courses, because I was very curious about chef's duck...and I made the right choice...whenever in Berlin, take a break of the sausages and enjoy this restaurant...

probably a matter of too high expectations but comparing with other Berlin fine dining places we felt this was underwhelming. Food was very good but not as inventive as expected. Accompanying wine menu consisted only of whites which did not really work for us. Service attentive but quite formal. A good night out but not as special as we had... More

After visiting some restaurants on the 50 BRW we decided to make it to Tim Raue during a trip to Berlin. We were 4 people, including a couple celebrating the 20th anniversary, so we though it was a big deal taking into account the amount of money you spent there. We went for the 6-course Signature Menu after a recommendation... More

The atmosphere is pleasant. The wait staff are pleasant. The appearance of some of the food is over the top gorgeous. The food is mediocre. The portions are scandalously, insultingly tiny. For instance, 46 Euros buys thin slices of one small scallop with a slight amount of sauce.

This is Chef Raue's flagship and it offers what you would hope for. Excellent food, service and wine. We had the signature 8 Menu and it was a worthy of the stars. All the presentations we elegant and most important, tasty! There is an asian flair but I didn't find it overwhelming by any stretch. I felt it was of... More

I've been there many times, mostly for lunch, and every time it has been an outstanding experience. Each course is a surprise in offering new and astonishing combinations of flavors and aromas. Everything is very well done. The sekection of wines by the glass is very nice. I wish I could go there more often, but I am not living... More

Loved Tim Raue. Very cool, modern space (even the bathrooms are fabulous). Outstanding tasting menu - each dish more beautiful and delicious than the last. Our whole table did that thing where we ooh'd and aaah'd and took pictures of each course - so well presented. Wonderful wine list and helpful sommelier. Best of all, the Asian-influenced cuisine is on... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
