Try the assortment of Biers, Weizen Bier, Edelstoff, Helles Lager or The strong Augustiner Dunkel. Recommendeded for friends and couples or solo visitors. Originally brewed by Augustiner Monks back in 1328 the variety of Bier offered are a taste of Bavaria. The meals are cheap, and I recommend the Leberkase with spiegel Ei. Don't expect a quiet atmosphere as this... More

Lovely location in Gendarmenmarkt with traditional authentic German food. Good value and speedy service! Small selection of German beers also.

We went to try the Bavarian food and had a great time. It was busy, but nothing unrealistic for a Saturday night. Would highly reccomend the Nuremberg sausages and the wheat beer.

I love eating here, it's like being in Munich, the food so amazingly good, the beer out of this world. The servers here can be a bit hurried, but don't focus on them, focus on the food and drink. I love eating here. Enjoy!

You will feel like you are in Bavaria upon entering the restaurant as they have long wooden tables and the atmosphere is a little loud but cozy with the clientele enjoying authentic German dishes at generous portions! The selection of wines, beers and food is good and a real delight in a city that is getting to be more and... More

It was our first night in Germany, so we wanted to taste typical dishes and drink some of the local beer. We ordered the Augustiner special for 2, amazing! The mashed potato spheres were pretty good, kinda soft gel consistency and buttery flavor. I must say it was a lot for us (2 girls) but we enjoyed every bite of... More

We stopped by Augustiner on Saturday as we needed to refuel for a busy day sightseeing and my friend had been before. It was quiet at the time but looks like it gets much busier for the dinner service. Service was quick and very friendly, and both food and drinks came quickly - perhaps a little too quickly! We both... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
