Authentic Vietnamese food is what I felt...though I have never been to Vietnam. The staff was very helpful in suggesting what type of food to order. The place may be very crowded in the evenings so better book...very close to the Museums in Berlin.

We checked in to our hotel and then wanted to eat somewhere outside of the hotel, but it was COLD. Right around the corder from the Radisson Blu is ShiMai. We ducked in and were pleasantly surprised. Kind of pan-asian. Pho, rice and noodle dishes, etc. Good taste, good service, good price. Recommend.

Service was very friendly and prompt. I had a noodle dish and my wife had a curry. Both were excellent. Decent atmosphere. Very close to Radisson Blu and the "Fish Tank" :). Went there in 2009 and will return on my next visit to Berlin.

The service isn't the best, the atmosphere isn't the best. The food is just okay, nothing special and not worth the price. My husbands meat was overcooked and mine was too spicy (even though it said on the menu mild). No one asked if we liked it or anything, not very polite either, they just made noises.

Having read some reviews after we had eaten, I did wonder if we were in the same restaurant, our staff were friendly and the service prompt. We had different things to eat and agreed that both meals we would have again and intend to do this before we leave Berlin.

We wanted to eat here as we saw that there was a sushi special menu at a very reasonable price. When we ordered they told us we had to go to another restaurant for sushi, so we just had a drink. Then another customer next to us ordered sushi no problem. What?! 8 euros for a water and beer was... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
