A very nice place and quite friendly staff. Was able to battle through conversation with my bad German but not too terrible. Food was good and he spatzle was delicious. Only negative was how long between seeing our server and trying to pay at the end took a long time. Still, a nice place and worth a visit if you're... More

We never ate here but the reason why is enough to never return to this place. We made a reservation for 7 at 20:30 but when we arrived, we were told that 'a woman' had called an hour earlier to cancel our reservation (complete with name) because of a traffic jam. Even as we told her that none of us... More

I visited this place over the last weekend, despite seeing how popular the place is/was (I live close to the restaurant so noticed the amount of patrons), how nice the decor is and reading the reviews here I was left very disappointed. Understandably the place is busy on a Saturday evening but after ordering we waited 20 minutes for our... More

My wife and I were wandering around Berlin and came upon this restaurant by chance and having seeing the menu thought it would be worth a visit. We went back on a quiet Saturday afternoon and enjoyed a really nice meal, we both went for different Maultaschen dishes. Both of our meals were lovely and the staff were polite and... More

Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Food was delicious. But don't bring your dog. The owner has a big German Shepard dog that doesn't like other dogs!!

Avoid this restaurant. Not just extremely rude, arrogant, and slow service but the owner's dog bit my sister who suffered an entirely unprovoked attack last night in the restaurant while walking from the table to visit the washroom. Luckily the police responded helpfully when the owner and staff did not. My sister had to receive medical attention and we await... More

Traditional German cuisine near the lovely Vicktoria-Luise Platz. Wonderful atmosphere and friendly service. Check out the daily lunch specials. They're a great bargain. You won't go wrong here.

A great place to eat - very good selection of Southern German/Schwabian food and pleasing range of German wines. Atmosphere lively and informal; service attentive, and good humoured waiting staff. Easily accessible via Victoria-Luisen u-Bahn. Well worth making the effort to find somewhere with a neighbourhood ambience rather than focused on the tourist market.

Came across this place by accident - very disappointed with the service - so poor we just had the chicken soup and then left. On the plus side the soup was very good and so was the lager but didn't feel welcome at all (maybe this was because England were playing Germany the following evening). Strangely enough they didn't take... More

If you want some of the best traditional German food in Berlin you should check this place out but try to book before hand as it's super popular with the locals. The staff are friendly, the food amazing. We had the Schwäbischer Saumagen, absolutely amazing. Try the Kaiserschmarrn for dessert, you will want seconds!

Neighbourhood Profile
In 1963, Schöneberg was the centre of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the centre of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
