We booked for a Saturday evening and had no problems. Fairly fast service for a busy night. Friendly staff. The schnitzel filled the plate and the Austrian potato salad and pickled cucumber salad went perfectly with it. The wiener schnitzel was cooked to perfection, great...More

We arrived early for dinner, looking forward to the Wiener Schnitzel. Most of Berlin serves Pork Schnitzel and we really wanted Veal Schnitzel without all the extra toppings .... veal crumbed with a squeeze of lemon. The food arrived with a very generous schnitzel that...More

I went there for dinner with the family and I'm still impressed by the size of the schnitzel. Actually we shared it because seemed to be a lot just for one but I think you can take the leftovers with you if it's too much...More

Mt wife and I have tried for 4 days to get a seat for dinner. Right near the M4 metro stop, easily accessible. Finally, yesterday, even though all seats were reserved, we were able to dine. Kalb Wiener Schnitzels are amazing, light crispy batter, evenly...More

A little restaurant on a side street off the main drag, this is a superb German/Austrian restaurant with tasty local cuisine. The restaurant itself is typically understated but the staff accommodated us very well, providing us with English menus and speaking decent English, while putting...More

My husband and I hadn't decided yet whether to eat at Alt Wien or just have drinks. We went in to have a look around and immediately got told that we'd have to sit outside as everything was booked up. (we weren't asked if we...More

Great variety of traditional food at this cosy restaurant. I've seen a few critical comments about the service but I certainly didn't experience that, the waitresses were very friendly and attentive.

No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change
than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists
that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in
the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip
crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were
once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall,
there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have
been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays,

Fred Koller, well known in Berlin for his austrian cuisine, and his partner Sibylle Hassfurther opened the restaurant ALT WIEN in September 2010. There you will find the best Wiener Schnitzel or Tafelspitz, and also a menu of austrian specialities that changes regularly. We recommend Kaiserschmarrn and a Melange after dinner!
