Absolutely pretentious rubbish We visited here on a recommendation and immediately realised this was not the place for us! Small dark rooms trying to strive for intimate atmosphere and actually achieving tackiness. The waiter appeared confused when we asked him the bases of the available cocktails insisting we just say what was our taste? Confusing and unhelpful conversation that led... More

We visited this place as a recommended place by a friend. We arrived after a short walk from the train station and rang the bell on the door. When we entered and we were greeted at the door by a chap that invited us is quite politely. The bar area was small and full of cigarette smoke. We asked if... More

My girlfriend wanted to go here. Ring the bell to get in. Taken to the non smoking area at the back with an interesting painting on the wall. excellent, attentive staff. The cocktails are not cheap 12-15 euros, but well made wonderful tastes. Worth a visit.

Where can I start, I had been to this bar two years ago with a friend of mine and being a bartender myself I was blown away by the atmosphere, bar tenders and the quality of the drinks so much so that I had to go back with my girlfriend last month. The music is always fantastic and the low... More

This cocktail bar was highly rated on various blogs and in lonely planet so felt it came highly recommended. It's difficult but fun to find with a picture in the window and a bell to ring. Was really looking forward to but as you walk in the door you are greeted with a smokey scene. As someone who had the... More

Really enjoyed our Sunday evening nightcaps there. Cocktails are impressive, loved that they do not use small ice cubes for shaking, so drinks won't get watery. Service was very good and the bartenders suggestions were great. Interior is simple but comfortable and cosy. Highly recommended!

Went there on Sunday evening and although the bar was quite empty the ambience was very cosy and warm. Drinks were outstanding, very well balanced. Service is very friendly, attentive and professional. Recommend:)

Sorry, this is overrated tosh. You will find many recommendations for this bar on the internet but do yourself a favour and avoid. The cocktails are 12 Euro a pop and just pure alcohol concoctions which would be better suited to cleaning rust off a wheelbarrow. The bar hides behind some form of exclusive charade (buzzer to get in, water... More

Becketts Kopf is somewhat hard to find - ring the bell, and the waiter will let you in. The drinks are poetic - their names as well as their tastes. But be aware that the drinks are not sweet things you can slurp in moments. They are delicious, but require - and deserve - to be enjoyed. Three tips: book... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
