Third time's the charm. Two years ago we visited Il Casolare twice, this year we decided to come back. Authentic, real Italian pizza with thin crust, thin layer of toppings (but oh the flavours!!) and size even Romans would envy. The service, well, we arrived at 21 on a winter Sunday to an half empty restaurant so the service was... More

If you want to eat a "kind of " Italian Pizza, you are in the right place. Pizza in Italy is different, but this pizza is not bed. If you don't have big expectations, it's ok.

Previous reviews differ wildly, I can only comment on what I experienced which was super pizza served with a smile and at a perfect price. Even on a wintertime Wednesday lunch time it was busy with locals so clearly they know a good place when they see it. It's typical Berlin tatty but if you're bothered about food rather than... More

Our regular place for pizza in Berlin, it is as good as it can be outside of Rome with place being all Italian. To be honest it is even better than some of pizzerias we visited in Italy.

Service is a mess, the time waiting is not worth it. If you ask to the Staff or even the Manager about a problem with the food the way to answer the customers is a bad joke, really rude mode. The pizza is not so good like you can expect... There are near in the area much better Italian places... More

I am a huge fan of pizza, ever since I have moved from Brazil I couldn't find a good pizza place in Berlin. But this one is amazing, the flavor is memorable, service and price are good as well.

I always go to Il Casolare on special occasions, not because I can't go more often (i live just around the corner) but I don't want to spoil it, I want it to be something special that I'm looking forward to! Their pizza is so great and tasty, perfectly thin and crunchy...specially with their spicy oil, just don't take too... More

Il Casolare is always busy, and there aren't many waiters. Some handle this pressure better than others, and yes, the service can be on the verge of rudeness. However, the food is worth it. I've been there many times and must confess, I always have pizza (although they offer other things). It's just great: not too doughy, but not too... More

My son and I decided we wanted a good Italian pizza, so decided on Il Casolare in the Kreuzberg area of Berlin. It was a warm night, so many people were sitting outside, but our table was inside the restaurant. Service was quite good; our server appeared after a relatively short wait and was very efficient after that. The pizza,... More

First, what is cool, is that everyone in the restaurant speeks iralian- which is immediately makes you feel like you're not in berlin. The area is very cool, a quite zone with not many tourists. We ordered one pizza and one vegan pizza without mozarella. I don't recommend it for a vegan peraon not because it was not good, just... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
