I went with my daughter. We tasted Zen Garden, Tommy's Margarita and Expresso Martini. All delicious! Great service from the time you step in, English speaking, awesome view of the town made us realize how much we actually walked during the days. If you enjoy cocktails with a view don't miss this!

The building does not set the pulse racing from the outside. It is a tall black, block building. The polite door man allows you entry where you must deposit your coat or jacket in the cloakroom as this is their policy. He then guides you to the lift and to floor 16 where the restaurant is. Firstly, when you enter... More

This place is worth a visit. The atmosphere is good (the dj plays a little loud for a dinner place - but then there is a bar just above, so what can one expert) the service is very polite. Can recommend the menu with wine at EUR 99.

I visited Solar yesterday with my daughter. There were plenty of positives. The views are amazing, it's a nice place to be, it really is!! All the staff from the moment we arrived at the front door were really friendly and helpful. If you go for drinks you shouldn't be disappointed. However, we tried the 4 course taster menu and... The view is very stunning, but we find the staff very pushy, like it they try to rush you. The food was good but not that special for the price you are paying.

Our restaurant host recommended Solar for after dinner drinks. Solar is an easy walk from Potsdamer Platz. This is a bar where the bouncer's job is to make you feel welcome and safe. Since it's on the top floors of a large building, the views of Berlin are beautiful. Solar is two story, the first floor is a restaurant, the... More

Went here for drinks with my boyfriend on our mini holiday to Berlin. Entering the place seemed a bit strange at first but inside was actually pretty nice. The view from the place is great, music was good for the relaxed tuesday atmosphere and staff were really friendly too!

We arrived late in Berlin, ready to go out. Our Hotel recommended this bar. From the outside, it looks like a high rise block. After being checked ver by the lovely doorman, we were allowed to enter. We took the lift to the 16th floor and boy, what a view from the top! Great atmosphere in here with all ages... More

We were lucky to be given a window table for our Saturday night out great dinner. Solar is on the 16 floor of an old council type block and the entrance is not promising! But once inside the restaurant it delivers on its reputation. Berlin seems to be a culinary leader in Europe and Solar lived up to expectations. We... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
