Great place with extensive menu. We had the Bavarian White sausages, cabbage salad, goulash, the schnitzel and lots of beer. Service was prompt and attentive. We loved the atmosphere and decor. Highly recommend for those that love Authentic German Food!

My mum and I loved this place! After looking around Berlin city all day it was so lovely to wander down the road and enjoy the delicious goulash soup and meatballs in this warm spacious and very welcoming restaurant. Our waiter was very patient with our very bad German and even taught us a few words. The food was incredible... More

My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner here. The food was authentic and plentiful. The service was excellent. The servers wore, what appeared to us, authentic Bavarian costumes. The restaurant is in a nice area of Berlin. Wow! What a find. Highly recommend.

We only made a short visit to get a beer, so I can not say anything about the food. The beer, however, was served nice and cold in one liter mugs by waiters in lederhosen.

The food is ok But the waiting time is unbelievable. Waited for more than an hour after ordering the food. Ask the waitress if they had forgotten our food. She just told that the restaurant was full.... maybe they should make a bigger kitchen and a smaller restaurant.

If you're looking for a German experience then this is the place for you. Big plates and big beers! The staff were friendly even when it was really packed. Make sure you go hungry!

We met people from our flight. Come on. Only tourists. Place was packed. Tourists gravitaye here. Huge portions of pork-based food. Lederhosen staff. Not authentic. Nothing wrong with the place, but a pure money machine devoid of any charm. Find somewhere else!

Terrific authentic feel of Munich, but in Berlin. Great beer selection and offers a few IPAs (hard to find with all the pilsners in Berlin) well worth a stop if strolling around checkpoint Charlie and germandermarkt. The currywurst I had was filling and seasoned perfectly.

Thank Chase V

Maximilians is cosiness personified! The restaurant has impressive copper and brass pumps and rustic-style furniture. It specialises in Bavarian cuisine, offering a large selection of good hearty food such as carpaccio dumplings and meat loaf, roast potatoes, fried eggs and Reiberdatschi (potato pancakes) served with apple compote. The waiting staff who are garbed in traditional Bavarian dress are constantly on the go, looking after the clientele of tourists, locals and Bavarian émigrés. This restaurant which is situated on the river Spree celebrates the Oktoberfest in September. The restaurant offers a selection of beer and wine.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
