Looking at the menu, I thought this may be a gem. How wrong I was. The food here is not good at all. Very dry, with little taste to anything. No problems with service, and reasonably priced, just not good. Sourkraut tasted litake it was made in a shoe!

After a busy day sightseeing and shopping we were looking for somewhere to eat in Hamburg City centre on a Saturday early evening. Most places that we tried were fully booked and we came across this place at 6.30 pm, which we thought was only a bar and ventured in for a drink. The place was quite busy therefore we... More

The Käsespätzle was amazing. It's been nearly a decade since I was in Munich and it pbrought me right back. The staff were perhaps a little cold but very authentic (from what I remember). My wife also enjoyed her meal and the beer was fantastic.

Went for dinner at a busy time of the year on a Friday night and the wait time for the food was over an hour. Has a great selection of German classics though and they're done right. Maybe a bit on the pricier side when considering all of Germany but probably par for the course in Hamburg. Go hungry because... More

A nice traditional Bavarian pub that serves all the food and beer you would expect. Probably an older clientele and a little touristy but pleasant staff and lots of space.

One of my favorite places in Hamburg. Moderately priced priced Bavarian pub dishes with sausages, fried potatoes, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, schnitzel et Cetera. With that comes great selections of beers and wines. Have never had a bad dish in this place. But that is also because I love traditional German food.

Based on Tripadvisor reviews and a healthy hankering for all things Wurst, I walked from my hotel to the Franziskaner and ordered the Würstlplatte auf Sauerkraut. This hearty plate contained a couple Rostbratwürst, Münchener Weißwurst, Bratwürst, and a few more that I don't recall the names of. You have to bring your 'A' game to this because while the first... I ate here on my last of five nights in Hamburg because it was close to my hotel and had excellent reviews on TA. I was not disappointed. I sat at the bar and the barkeeper was terrific. I was going to order sauerbraten but he talked me into one of the seasonal specials, which was cod. I started with... More
