I told the waitress that I was vegetarian and she brought me a very disgusting combination of melted cheese on lettuce leaves. Have you ever tried this combination of ingredients? Well, it tastes as bad as it sounds. When I told her that it tasted disgusting, she just said "I am sorry" and did not look forward to fix the... More

We ate there and had the fish special, the four meat special and the Weiner schnitzel. It was all very, very good. We sat at the bar around the well because those were the only seats and loved every minute. The servings were very large and very well done. Tried to go back, but didn't have reservations and couldn't get... More

The only thing I wish I had at the restaurant was a reservation. I had there four steak specialty and it was delicious. The servings were huge and the service was great even if we had to sit at the front barrel table.

We naively chose butterfish from the menu, which we now know was probably escolar. It tasted very good. However, my companion suffered the well-known side-effects (about which you don't want to hear) and I didn't feel at my best for a while. Maybe the local people know all about butterfish/escolar and its problems, but we certainly didn't till we researched... More

Good typically German food, large portions, in quaint surroundings. The restaurant prides itself on its traditional "gemütliche" atmosphere, being in the one-time house of the medieval city gate-keeper (which is what its name means). We had the Zigeuner Schitzel, a large breaded pork steak with a delicious sauce made with red peppers. Reasonable prices.

Very good price/value ratio. Charming place with terrific food. The matjes hering melts in your mouth. The portions are huge and the price is very reasonable. All the fish dishes are very tasty. We chose to eat 4 times in a row there, it was just that good

We ate here 3 years ago and remembered the good value and friendly service. The food is still fine if you can deal with a potential overdose of fat. When we arrived, we were told that all the tables inside were reserved. We could try to find space in the garden by ourselves. Most tables outside were also reserved. The... More

The sole (Scholle) fish tasted very fresh, the fried potatoes were tasty. It is a very quaint and small place with tables tucked all over the place. Because we had no reservations, we sat at the bar with Oskar, a 10 year old character of a fish. He was really a neat companion. Lots of gemutlichkeit here, and the staff... More

This small Pub-cum-restuarant is a delightful old world type, with a limited menu of inexpensive meals and Drinks (3 euros for a half litre of local pilsner ) Staff were very helpful, and spoke sufficent English.

This restaurant gets a mention in the Lonely Planet Guide to Germany, though heaven knows why. It is situated in what must once have been an attractive medieval building, but even that has been spoiled by later development. Service was surly. The food was very basic and largely fried.
