We wanted the 'German' food and beer experience, and got exactly what we were looking for. Generous portions, reasonable prices, and going early, we were seated without a reservation. The staff was friendly and helpful. And the craft beer is excellent, which may be a given in Germany, but nonetheless worth noting in this case.

If u like the smell of brewing and want to get close to the action this is a great little place. The standard drink is called messing-strong and flavoursome. At Christmas time they do a cracking special edition beer. Friendly staff and great in the summer months in the beer garden. Food is traditional so not to everyone's taste but... More

We found this on tripadviser and it matched the reviews. Huge portions and friendly staff made this easy. Big mistake was ordering the Plum desert as it was huge. (However it was excellent.) Mrs Steve has advised we will need to come again!

A wonderful German atmosphere in this excellent Brauhaus. Beer of high quality with different choices. Wine list limited, but this might be expected. Comprehensive menu. All dishes arrive with full plates. Special dishes, particularly on a Tuesday. My three visits varied in respect of attention from the staff. But it was all worth while, and I would not have changed... More

Tradional, atmospheric and inviting, three words that describe the Brauhaus. We visited early evening after a time spent in the Christmas market and easily found a seat at the bar. The service was great and the beer went down a treat. The surroundings are very traditional and inviting. There were lots of beers to choose from and with other drinks... More

A traditional brauhaus so it pretty much does what it says on the tin. Full plates of traditional food and lashings of beer brewed on the premises. I don't know what else to say really. It is a charming old building and has a slightly olde worlde quality to the interior. Worth a visit but neither the food nor the... More

This is a "chain" brew house serving good beer in a lively environment. My experience was that the young people who are serving are not that concentrated on your needs. Rather they are more interested in what's going on around and so they miss orders or forget to deliver your drinks. Food is traditional and in huge quantity but not... More

If you're a beer enthusiast, this brew-house should be in your "must go" list in the town of Bielefeld. Joh. Albrecht stands as probably the only place that you can find craft beer from tap in town. All the other bars that I visited there had only mass consumption Pilsner type of tap beers. In Joh.Albrecht, I've tried Dunkel, Pilsner... More

We had a meal at the Brauhaus which started not a supple as could be. We expected that we were assigned a table, but after a few minutes nobody showed interest. I had to ask and was told to look for a table myself. The place was full, but service was still pretty efficient, but again not spontaneous. We had... More

Spent an evening here eating and drinking and watching football. The staff are very good, efficient, and charming. The eating area is nice and cosy. I had the schnitzel, which was delicious, as was the beer here. There's a lot of choice on the menu, at reasonable cost. They put the Euro football on when we were there at another... More
