This is not a place for the feint hearted. Basic tables and chairs, waiters who take no prisoners and food that has as its basic function fuel. Accept this and you will have a ball. Going there for gastronomy will disappoint.

Visited tonight based on reccomendations on here and it was only a few doors down from hotel. Was thankful to find a table as even though only 5.30pm it was busy. Waiters very helpful and understanding being as we didnt understand any german, they provided us with an english menu too. The beers came automatically but other drinks were available.... More

We stumbled across this beer hall by accident - you would not notice it going along the street. Just two big wooden doors but what a find. Great atmosphere - locals - more so than tourist. Great staff and.

Paeffgen Kölsch is the best Beer you could drink in and around CGN. Great Place to be with Friends, Family, Alone? Doesn't depend.

This place was exactly what you want when visiting Germany, authentic, friendly, clean, warm and welcoming. Good food and very friendly staff, however don't stand in there way as they might make you jump. Well worth a visit

Been here a couple of times and it's always the same, which is a good thing! Not touristy, very local and always busy. Good German fare especially 0.75m of Bratwurst and lots of Koelsch keeps coming until you say stop! When in Koelsch, this does what it says on the tin.

We (six of us) came here especially for the Kolsch beer and the pork knuckle. No disappointment at all. I am not a beer drinker but I had 2 glasses. Just love it!! We added other items to our wish list...bratwurst, potato pancakes etc. What a wonderful meal!!

Genuine German cuisine and excellent Kölsch. Crowded as good restaurants often is but it adds to the atmosphere.

We come here every time we go to Cologne and enjoy the food, busy atmosphere and the Kolch beer. Its a very big place and all the tables were full as usual. A group of us went as relatives were visiting. The waiter was abrupt & efficient. All the waiters here are men & they will keep replacing your beer... More

Nice traditional 5 restaurant style bierhalle. Cozy and not to touristic. Great homemade bratwurst and local kolsch. Beware donnot finish your glasss to quick as the waiter will refill without you asking :-) Had a nice time here.
