It may be interesting to stay inside for decor, but when you choose a restaurant it is first for food. And this place is quite disappointing for food quality and overpriced. Wine price by the glass is just outrageous. I definitely not recommend.

On our recent visit to Dresden, on the way back to Berlin, we found this gem of a restaurant. It is situated right next to the Frauenkirche. The menu gave plenty of choice and it was difficult to choose. All dishes were described in English,...More

We were wandering around the old city and a local friend took us to the Pulverturm restaurant for lunch. The cellar location was cool and well decorated; we ate suckling pig and huge potato dumplings and drank good beer with a friendly server who, discovering...More

The service provided was excellent and the restaurant was perfect for English speakers with the menu both in German and English. The food was traditional German food and was delicious, as well as good value for money. Will be sure to return!

Good hearty food -good hearty athmosphere. Sometimes entertainers walking through the restaurant. Perhaps a bit touristy. But everything is OK. It certainly is no waste of time to go there

Welcome to the Gunpowder Tower! Originally built in 1565, the tower formed an important part of Dresden's fortifications, and, as its name suggests, was used to store gunpowder safely in the ground - it was a pretty explosive place back then! You will find the restaurant in the historical centre of dresden in the vaultet ceilings of the "Coselpalais" next to "Frauenkirche". The Pulverturm with a total of 400 seats is open daily from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. As you dine beneath the vaulted ceilings of the Marshal de Saxe Room, or the Russian or Turkish vault, you will experience a part of the history of Saxony while enjoying a truly royal saxon dining experience. Of course, your table will have a sumptious basket of oven-fresh breads from the Arsenal Bakery, just a few yards away. This is also where the court patissier creates sweet delicacies for dessert. Perhaps Milord and Milady would fancy a juicy suckling pig or other rustic dishes prepared before your eyes in our open-air kitchen, along with your choice of ice-cold german beer or delicious local wines. You may even be tempted to buy some plunder from the strolling sutler! The "Condemned Man's Last Meal" served in the dungeon, of course, is an unforgettable experience. Our lovely maidens and brave grenadiers will serve you delicacies. Throughout the evening, strolling magicians will ensure nonstop merriment and diversion. Last but not least you should not miss out on the famous funnel drinking, called "Dresdner Trichtertrinken".
