We stayed in Bilbao and took a day trip to San Sebastian, mainly for the gastronomy experience. This was our chosen dinner spot. Unlike a lot of pintxos (small dishes) bars in San Sebastian that serve mainly cold or bread-based pintxos, this place serves hot meat-based pintxos. We sampled several pintxos, including veal cheeks, pig's ear, pulpo, suckling pig as... More

It's not that food is not good, it is (far from great though) but service is appalling. We were treated in an absolutely unacceptable way. I am happy to queue and wait for attention but here you almost had to beg to be seen and get a bite. There is such an amazing gastronomic offer in San Sebastian that I... More

On the advice of friends we were first in the door at 1225. This small bar - standing only inside, tables outside - fills up fast. Everything is cooked to order by three chefs working in a frenzy. Wines by the glass were superb but the food was simply stunning. A single soft succulent beef cheek on a chickpea purée;... More

You'll notice that (unlike anywhere else in Donostia) there's a huge influx of Japanese and Korean tourists eating veal cheeks and pig trotters. This seems to be where they go for pintxos, and at good reason - the mini platters are stunningly crafted, like sushi. The ambience is very old-world San Sebastian with wooden tables and clutter along the walls... More

We had 4 pintxos there. It is superb. All the dishes are like monuments. Well done. Everything is special. Staff very friendly and professional. We recommend it.

By far our favourite in San Sebastián; rustic but immaculate food that beats any top resteraunt, amazing value, delicious local wine, and very friendly service. On one of our visits we ate and drank Rioja sitting on the ground in front of the church in the alley outside. A priceless experience.

This place is along the 'official' San Sebastian pintxos trail so we decided to try it. It ended up being our favorite pintxos bar. We had foie gras (very good), veal cheek (perfect) and pork on grilled skin (good). I couldn't drink alcohol so they recommended a local grape juice, the best I ever tried. Downside is that you eat... More

This was my favourite pintxo bar in San Sebastián....And all I did during my time in San Sebastián was eat. The food at La Cuchara de San Telmo is to die for! It gets very busy but don't shy away from the queue - it's worth it. I had the beef cheek, the suckling pig and it was also my... More

Once you learn the process of getting to the bar without offending anyone you will be happy for the effort. All the pintxos bars where crowded when we visited and all served quality food. Some maybe more to your liking but La Cuchara should have something for everyone. High on our list and would definitely go back.
