Excellent food, service and it's on top of a mountain with fabulous ocean views. A little far from San Sebastián, but a very nice drive during the day. If you are a diabetic let them know when you get there and they will ask you what you would like and they will make it for you.

We went in a group of about 12 and enjoyed a choice of 3 different tasting menus. Since we shared our dishes around the table, we got to try nearly everything. Nearly every dish was unusual in some way, and all were tasty. The service was superb and the restaurant is attractive. Prices are steep, but worth it.

We loved Akelarre! Fun location outside of town. We were greeted by the head chef upon arrival. Set menus, but my husband and I chose different menus so we could try more. We really enjoyed each dish and its individual presentation. Also, fabulous wine pairings with each menu! Very friendly service and clearly a chef whose culinary genius has stood... More

Went for dinner with my daughter to give her a flavor of something different in food. And yes, it was a roundtrip of tastes, flavours and surprises. The most remarkable one was the sherry served! Please continue to create those standards of food, its an art!

I had a wonderful lunch in this restaurant. One of the best, actually. My best friend and I decided to visit as part of our weekend trip to a wedding nearby. Even with the dreary weather, the views were outstanding. The staff and service were impeccable. As for the servings, they were great portions and just sublime. By the end... More

My girlfriend and I just finished an amazing 3 hour experience at Akelare near San Sebastian. We're on a culinary weekend tour and we were looking forward to our first 3 star experience. It didn't disappoint!! We had the classic favourite menu with wine pairing and each dish was exquisite. The pairing was perfect . We also want to highlight... More

This standard of fine dining is not something we have ever experienced previously and it is still clearly fixed in our minds one week later as I write this review. I don't intend to attempt a recitation of the individual dishes that comprised the two menus (Aranori and Bekarki) that we selected for lunch on Saturday 17 December 2016. Rather,... More

In a town known for food it takes something to stand out and Akelarre does just that. From the initial service throughout the meal you are looked after at each step. The food is simply excellent and the wines matched excellently. Some stand outs for me were the Suckling Pig, Sea Bass and Coconut desert (don't let the size fool... More

This restaurant is incredible. Firstly the views are amazing, and the decor inside is lovely! The service is up there with the best I've ever had. More importantly...the food is amazing. I do wish that I had the Akelare classics tasting menu instead of the creative tasting menu.
