I had lunch here today and was warmly welcomed by owners David and Estelle. The menu is really varied and includes European and South African specialties.
The view of the bay and attentive hospitality of the hosts added to the delicious food. My first taste of South African cuisine and I enjoyed the ample portions and home cooked dishes, which were full of flavour.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. From the service to the quality of the food, it was absolutely amazing. This adorable couple from South Africa run the place and are making fresh authentic South African food as you order it. Nothing is pre-packaged or reheated here. My husband and I saw this place from the beach in Cala Major and decided to check it out one night. Got there around 8:15p and was seated immediately. Side note: might suggest making a reservation next time we decide to show up as the place is smaller and reservations by others had been made. Was not an issue this go around. Ordered the 1L pitcher of Sangria, peri peri chicken and the curry. Oh my goodness! So good!! The spices and flavor from both dishes were wonderful. The owner had informed us that the peri peri sauce on the chicken was spicy but not too hot and very flavorful and she was not wrong. I love spicy food and this was just enough heat without being overwhelming. The curry also had a myriad of different flavors. My husband ate his whole meal in less than 5 minutes flat and the owner came back and asked if he wanted a second helping. How sweet is that? Has never happened to me before! That is what I call great customer service! All I can say is that you should try this place out! Everything was fantastic. Food, service, views, atmosphere! Will definitely be returning here again and again even if I have to go out of my way to get to this place! Thank you again for a wonderful evening!!!

We visited The Crow's Nest and had we not known, we would have walked straight past it. Boy are we glad we didn't.
The owners were an absolute delight, so helpful with the menu and you can see how passionate they are about South African cuisine - for good reason!
The menu combined some South African dishes (zebra ostrich); which they and I recommend, plus chicken, lamb and plenty of veggie options too.
The portions were hearty, more than reasonably priced and the meal was topped off with some amarula on ice - we left very happy and very full.

If I could give zero stars, I would. We visited the The Crow's Nest in Cala Major in July this year (2021). I had great expectations, since the reviews were so good. However, the whole experience was a huge disappointment. The food took over 1,5h to arrive, and once it came - it was tasteless. The staff didn't inform us why the food were late - instead they ignored us until the food arrived.
This was the worst experience I've had when it comes to visiting a restaurant. I will not come back and I don't recommend anyone to.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review a month later. We are absolutely amazed that it seems like you had this horrible experience. Exactly during the same time when other guests have said 100% the opposite to you. We are trying to understand why we would single you specifically out by delaying your food 1.5 hours when everyone else gets served in a fair time? Are you sure you are talking about our restaurant? We are astounded that we offer the same hospitality, kindness and commitment to make sure ALL our clients have a good experience but overlooked you? Really find this so hard to believe, specifically in view of the fact that we speak to each table a number of times at a visit and nobody gets left for 1.5 hours. This has never happened. Sadly, this is a platform where restaurants can endure a form of sabotage. We are a team that strive to make sure we give our best every night and if someone is unhappy we know it on the night and fix it. We don’t ignore our clients for 1.5 hours. Never have and never will.

We went to this restaurant last night and we were not disappointed. We have never eaten South African food before and love to try new things and it was absolutely incredible. The owners were fab. Due to the coronavirus issue we were given hand sanitizer upon entry to the restaurant and numbers were limited to a third capacity as per government guidelines - putting health before greed. We had starters and for main we had the Ostrich pasta and the SA hot pot. Both were absolutely incredible both in quality and taste. We couldn’t quite finish the hot pot (which was very much like a mild curry if you’re not into heat) and they put it into a take away coffee mug and gave us a spoon so it didn’t waste. They really were incredible hosts, friendly and down to earth. Deserve to be in the top 5 restaurants in Palma for sure! Food was great quality for price despite what some have written, you pay for what you get and in this case you get more for your money in food, service and views I would say!

Excellent, authentic South African food, hidden at the top of a flight of stairs overlooking the beach, so look out for it, as you don’t want to miss an opportunity to go.
Run by a lovely couple who’ve obviously been doing this for some time, as it’s a well oiled machine that produces fantastic results.
It’s by far and away above the usual standard of fare served in other beachside establishments. The food is obviously cooked to order, rather than waiting in the wings to be reheated. The portions are more than generous, with great vegetarian and vegan options too. Try and leave some room for desert though, as they are top drawer.
It has a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. They were particularly attentive to our youngest child, who ate more there than he’s eaten all week. Then they ran down the stairs ten minutes after we’d left, as one of the other kids had left his hat there.
It’s the personal touches, as well as the standard of the food, and excellent value for money that puts this place well above its rivals.

WORTHY OF #1 POSITION
During my stay in Palma I visited this little restaurant possibly 15 times. Every time a warm welcome from the owners, real interest to make each meal perfect to my liking. I spiced things up and down, they created new meals for me and everything on the menu is simply delicious. Authentic and cooked with great care. Being a foodie myself, I can highly recommend this place as your GO TO every night.

This restaurant is filled with atmosphere however food is good but the drinks are average especially the beer 🍺 however EXELLENT service and also friendliness of staff and appreciate the opportunity of taste a little bit of South Africa
The hosts Dave and Estelle are great and make you feel at home.
There is a new waitress she is polite with all the guests
This place is a mix between South African hospitality with a Mediterranean flavor.

We value all reviews. Especially when it is within our power to improve our quality of standards and service. Your review left us confused. The food was good, the atmosphere and service great BUT the beer not good? An item which is totally out of our control as of course like any other restaurant, we depend on the local breweries. All we can imagine is your disappointment that we are not able to serve South African beer simply because it is impossible. No logistical support available and expiry a huge factor. Sadly, your average review impacts on the excellent status we as a team strive to achieve every time a person sets foot in our restaurant. We offer the ambiance, the good although most people say “excellent” food judging by our reviews, the care and hospitality that we offer our clients. Your 3/5 rating based on “THE BEER” is disappointing as it will affect our excellent status we work extremely hard to achie consistently.

Dave and Estelle are amazing, engaging hosts to this small but festive restaurant overlooking the bay in Cala Major Majorca. Authentic South African foods you rarely can find ElseWare are served with delight. You are treated like family the moment you enter their Venue. A gem of a find hosted by people who love what they do. But be warned I strongly recommend you make reservations otherwise you might be disappointed in drop-in availability.

Nice little restaurant with limited sea views. Super charming (and impressively bilingual) waitress (short black hair), give her a raise! Pleasant, homely ambience, the food was also very good. Only small gripe: either the portion size of the chicken & ribs combo should be increased, or the price lowered a bit, €20 isn't great value for what was offered, €18 would sound right. Would definitely come here again though overall.

We were staying in a hotel next door to the Crow's Nest in Cala Major. We visited the first time after a reccomendation by other guests in our hotel. It isn't a big place and you have to climb a number of steep steps to get to the restaurant. Dave & Estelle are wonderful hosts. Portions are big! The first visit we decided to share a number of tapas & were undecided about main courses. Estelle kindly advised that it was a lot of food we had ordered & she would do a half portion of one of the mains (Malay Curry). The other main was a LARGE pork rib & the biggest chicken thigh I have ever seen. It was all delicious. I did manage the malva pudding & vanilla ice-cream. Our last night we shared battered cream cheese jalapeños. Our mains were fish & chips and a pasta bolognaise. I also had the biggest Negroni cocktail ever! Everything was beautifully cooked, served by lovely people. I have no hesitation in recommending The Crow's Nest. Hopefully, we will be back soon. Rosalind & Alan

The service was the absolute best we have experienced in Mallorca, and the sharing platter offered possibly the best collection of meats we have ever eaten in our lives. My boyfriend was in literal tears over the ribs. Definitely recommend a visit (or 5) during your vacation!

Outstanding experience. The lovely South African couple that own and run this restaurant do a fantastic job. The menu is packed full of delicious South African dishes, as well as some old favourites. The food, and S. A. wine was delicious and what made the evening even more special was their passionate, friendly and attentive service. Totally recommend this place.

I was torn between 3 and 4 stars solely due to the fact that the water was warm likewise the wine despite being taken out of the fridge.
When temperatures are about 30 you need cold water and cooled wine, to give us a few ice cubes is not the solution when they are made from tap water that you don’t drink l
Reason for I settled at 4 stars is that the food was good and the owners extremely friendly.
We had mushrooms and “meat balls “ for appetizers and I got chicken in curry for main and the wife got Zebra, just had to try it and it was good.

Passed the restaurant and decided to get a taste of SA. Booked a table for the family and looked forward to some exotic meat.
Was not let down. The misses ordered Pumbaburger, oldest boy ordered zebra, youngest girl ordered antelope and I went for ox tail. All the meat was really tender and the wine was splended.
The portion was generous, but the oldest boy saw to that no food was left over. (The perks of having teenager boys)
The only downside was that the pinapple on the pumba burger was a little to thick, so the pinappletaste was very dominant.
The owners was very pleasent and hospitable with a real serviceminded attitude.
Will recommend this place.
