Osteria de Placa Sant Francesc is located on one side of a quiet residential square, close to the church after which it is named. Sergio, the restaurant manager and his staff were very welcoming, and accepted our reservation, made at short notice. There is a reassuringly short menu, offering classic Italian dishes and a blackboard offering daily specials. We shared a plate of the nuestra seleccion de Embutidos (cured Italian meats) followed by the pasta dishes, a rabbit ragu and sausage with burrito, both of which were beautifully presented, fragrant and delicious. The manager recommended we try the Lugano white wine (not listed in menu) and this was excellent choice (the mark up was not unreasonable). We finished the meal with a shared tiramisu… very nice.

Family of 4 came for dinner. Brilliant experience from the moment we arrived. Staff so helpful and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious, some of the best we have eaten, feels very authentic. Cannot recommend enough.

The food is absolutely delicious and very authentic. Only a few seats are available outside on the plaza, so you better make a reservation. Service was more than friendly and we came back 3 times because we felt so relaxed and were more than welcomed. Not too expensive and a great selection of wines!

Me and my partner decided to have a dinner in this place. As this was our first dinner out in Mallorca, we hoped for a joyful experience. We choose this restaurant as it was local to our hotel and the place itself had a handful of good reviews on a trip advisor. The reality was quite opposite to what I hoped for. From the beginning a bad attitude and poor customer service from one of the waiters, spoiled my evening completely. The waiter was arrogant and the service was slow. The food was of average quality, however I must say not the worst in Majorca. We had to wait 15 minutes for our bill to be produced and I don’t understand why did it take them so long as I saw few waiters waiting to the site, speaking to their colleagues and smoking. I was ready to walk out from there, leaving the money on the table and not including the tip. For the kind of money they charge they should be running around their customers.

My hotel made a reservation for me, but the person who greeted me couldn't find it and offered me a table alone in a separate room. He was very unpleasant besides. Then the receptionist found my reservation and they seated me at a normal table in the main room.
The food was heavy but tasty. Alas, a few hours later, I started to feel sick and suffered serious intestinal distress that night and the next day. Not sure it was from the food at this restaurant, but it might well have been. I had the special beef dish in a creamy cheese sauce. But the question is not the richness, but whether the food was perhaps undercooked or otherwise unhealthy.
Sorry to have to report this negative experience with an otherwise appealing restaurant in a good location.

First I m very sad and sorry for your healthy and I hope you to feel great soon!
Than just let me ensure you that:If there is something that we pretend in our restaurant is the high quality of our raw material ! We receive daily our fresh products , in the case of our beef : is fresh Ireland’s Angus.
Also let me say that we open back after holiday a week ago and so all the material couldn’t have enough time to deteriorate ( anyway our control is very restrict) and we use vacuum system !
Finally I m very sorry but I think you should find the reason of your illness maybe in another motivation.
Based on your suggestion We will provide to serve the sauce on the side
in order to let the customer decide the quantity of sauce required

Awful experience, massively overpriced for dreadful undercooked pasta, inedible! Terrible service, the waiters fall over themselves for what seem to be regulars who tip them. When asked why I hadn't eaten the pasta, i told the waiter that it wasn't cooked, he replied angrily that the chef had just cost him his tip! Following this both waiters turned very unfriendly and ignored our request for the bill! We had to ask 4 times for it, whilst they just stood around. Strange behaviour, verging on the aggressive! I would advise anyone to avoid this place. I find it hard to believe that this is a true Italian chef.

On our final night in Palma we came here and sat out on the sidewalk, the service is great and the place has the perfect amount of tables outside, not crowded at all. we drank a great bottle from their solid wine list and had brilliant food. (Antipasti pre, truffle & porcini fettuccine, their tagliatelle bolognese and finally panda cotta) . We strongly recommend coming here if you’d like to have a peaceful dinner away from the tourist packed places and a night off from tapas.

Drawn in after viewing the very impressive menu outside. Our waiter Sergeo was very attentive, happy to recommend dishes and wine. Very knowledgeable and really made the evening special. Food was absolutely fantastic highly recommend the Carppacio and Fois Gras. All ingredients very fresh and cooked to perfection.
Looking forward to going back as soon as we can!

Quite expensive food and disappointing quality. Pasta undercooked (too al dente) , bland sauces, boring carpaccio, bad quality olive oil used in the recipes and dry osso bucco. presentation of the dishes was also unpleasant. It was like the chef took a few days off and they had the dishwasher stand in.
Would not visit again.

Stopped here for lunch - incredibly tasty and rich flavours, particularly the mussels which we shared as a starter, and the ravioli were also divine. High quality fresh ingredients combined with a skilled chef in the kitchen make this a perfect place to eat. Would highly recommend!

We ate here a couple of weeks ago and two things that were on the menu were not available. The waiter was serving everyone outside and was a little rushed and just this side of being insistent and rude. The food was OK, but I thought Enoteca1918 was much, much better food, service and cheaper.

one of the finest Italian restaurants I’ve ever been. as a starter I recommend the tuna tartar, then the home made fettuccine with mussels is a must. my friend had the best ossobucco with cellery puree. good wine selection and a very friendly and professional staff. a wonderful place to go to when you’re in palma.

Excellent find stumbling around old town Palma. A few tables and chairs outside a beautiful church, lovely setting.
Excellent food, really reasonable prices for both food and wine. We both had fresh pasta dishes with chilled Prosecco, loved it. For a starter, 2 mains and a bottle of Prosecco the bill was 65euro. Also gave us 2 lemoncello free at the end. If your lucky enough to find it definitely give it a try

Recommend by friends. Attentive and professional service.Fresh and well presented with good value, we started with a mussels appetizer to share. It had a light tomato broth with a wonderful aroma and great to dip bread into. Then the Rosso buck Milanese style and tagliatelle with sea bass . Very tasty and ample..we had a chocolate mousse cake for desert ..Service was extraordinary. Good old Italian love songs the background provided additional ambiance.Wonderful dining experience!!

This restaurant was so good that we went here twice on our short trip to Palma, both lunch and dinner (on different days) Situated in the plaza with the Sant Francesc basilica, it has great views. The plaza itself is reasonably quiet. There is both seating outside as well as air-conditioned inside. Interestingly most of the Spanish chose to eat indoors, though at night the views of the basilica as the sun sets are absolutely stunning.
The food is good Italian well executed (despite what other reviews might say). The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a good range of Italian wines available to choose from. Given that the seafood is fresh it may not always be available, but better that than being got out of the freezer and micro-waved.
Given the quality of the food and the service this restaurant is reasonably priced.
It is a popular restaurant so depending on the day and time of year, it is probably worth booking in advance.
