Visited here with my husband. An extremely popular restaurant. The food is very good but the service leaves a lot to be desired. We ordered a bottle of wine which had still not arrived after our starter was served. At that point we opted for glasses of wine instead. The food arrives very quickly, to the point you feel they... A Santander institution but still very reasonably priced Set up like a wine cellar with real character The food and wine are excellent and the staff could not be more helpful Best to book unless you like to eat early

This lovey place was recommended to us and I am so glad we booked! After a week of lovey food in the Basque Country, we had high expectations and this place topped the lot! From the welcoming atmosphere and cosy surroundings to the all important food everything was perfect! I had pig cheeks which were the tastiest dish of my... More

We arrived in Santander by ferry at the start of our 3 week tour of Spain and stayed in the town for a couple of nights. I saw the reviews on TA and decided to give this place a visit as it was near our hotel. It was all absolutely delicious, we had the salt cooked prawns which looked almost... More

This was one of the best meals I've had in Spain (which says a lot!). The dining room has beautifully painted wine vats lining its walls and other unique features. Service is fantastic. As for the food, we enjoyed a whole merluza in a garlic lemon sauce for our main - was delicious and prepared table-side. We had their anchovy... More

Great food which is unsurpassed. They can make a tomato salad and art form and so delicious. I went for the standard sirloin steak and wasn't disappointed. Pure quality of the meat was evident. However, service was really inconsistent as we were served by three waiters and a hostess was in the background yet after almost waiting to served the... More

We came into the place and were amazed by the atmosphere. It is big, yet you feel it is really cozy. Staff were all very friendly, professional and could speak English. Had a wonderful bluefin tuna starter, cheese platter and a great t-bone steak. Definitely a place we would recommend to anyone coming to Santander!

This restaurant was part of the tapas tour and was great fun for our group. The bar is in the front part of the restaurant with a few side tables and the rest is all sit down tables. It's a bit crowded for a Tuesday night, but the wine and tapas made up for that, as well as the interesting... More

Riojano started in 1940 . No restaurant survives that long if it's not consistently excellent . Surprisingly the price is also very reasonable and unusual these days a large range of good wines without an extravagant price . Serves both meat snd fish and very good starters including croquettes and Iberian ham . Bar food also available ( in Bar... More

The dining room was very nice and interesting. All walls are decorated with wine barrels which have their leads painted. It was a hot evening but luckily the aircondition worked very well. The varity of dishes were very good. We tried oxtail stew and jowls from cow which both were delicious. The staff was attentive and gave us a very... More
