I was very disappointed as this restaurant was highly rated. It had no atmosphere, extremely quiet and not very relaxing. The host stood almost over you when eating. Very uncomfortable indeed. The food was ok but insufficient and was also very overpriced. 50 eur for two small mains and two glasses of wine. We were glad we had sampled some... More

Extremely friendly restaurant and a place I visit each time I am in Burgos. Next to teh cathedral. Food is always excellent. Wine list is eye opening if you want to try great wines of the region, and there are many great red wines here. Soup and roast suckling lamb were both delicious. The family who owns this place are... We came to Meson Del Cid as we had heard the lamb was superb- we were disappointed as the lamb chops were totally overcooked and small and were dry and crunchy. Also, the roast lamb was somewhat stringy. Nice staff, average ambience. The mixed salad and starters were very nice. Shame about the lamb. The highlight is the view of... More

We had breakfast here. Nice bright open room with very nice staff. We felt it was with my he 10€ cost before we headed out for the day.

We went to dinner and we had expected a Spanish Meson-type restaurant, but that is not what we found. This is a modern, clean restaurant, with good food. We had a fish soup, merluza in green sauce and leche frita for dessert. All was very good, service was excellent to the point one of the waiters walked us to our... More

Cost 100 Euros for two courses with win and water, admittedly we did not have the set menu but even so ! Perhaps the set menu would be better ? The food was good though.

I personally highly recommend the Pilgrim menu. It is not cheap but it is typical from northern Spain, as far as I understood. Funny place with waitresses in costume.

Not far from the cathedral, this place is a gem. We sat upstairs overlooking the cathedral. Wonderful local wine. Shared a leek pancake which was actually creamy leeks between brioche bread. One had the hake with a potato wafer on top. I had the entrecote steak with fries and grilled peppers. Done to perfection!

I have tried many restaurants in Burgos to find the best suckling lamb and the conclusion is Meson del Cid. The lamb is very tasty and tender but not dry. I highly recommend it.
