Visiting in late June, we tried to find authentic (not touristy) food and wine. This fitted the bill. We shared a salad, bread & 2 mains with a bottle of rose for around 45€. Brilliant value.

Right in the vicinity of the Cathedral, it's hard to find a place that isn't packed with tourists. We like things quieter, but we like good, authentic food. This place was delightfully kind of hidden down a back street behind the Cathedral away from the...More

Description
With its 80 years, La Palma is undoubtedly one of the most charismatic locals of the Gothic quarter in Barcelona. Opened in 1935 as a grocery store, it has been an improvised theater stage and a meeting place for artists, painters and poets of the recent history of Barcelona. In 1987, the business became " La Bodega de la Señora Maria" and adapted to the new times, including for the first time a coffee machine and a variety of homemade omelettes, without neglecting its tradition: the barrel wine. The last change was in 2005 , when the new owners expanded the menu to convert the celler into what it is today: a place that perfectly combines traditional Catalan cuisine with a wide and varied menu of wines and champagnes . Enjoy it!
