We wanted to eat dinner somewhere while strolling on La Rambla one evening, so we had a look at the menu for this restaurant. The pictures looked great :) so we decided to sit down at one of their outdoor tables and have dinner there. We decided to share a platter of tapas and our waiter suggested one of the... More

We called here on our first night in Barcelona, and went every night thereafter! There is an incredible welcome here, the staff are excellent and friendly, particularly Henry. We went in search of Churros and Hot Chocolate. It was superb. However, we also discovered what must be one of the largest collections of spirits in the city. WE thoroughly recommend... More

We stopped by here to have something sweet on our first day in Barcelona. The churros and hot chocolate was divine and such a treat that we went back on our last day before heading to the airport! The rating is based on the churros (I'm not sure about the rest of the menu). Ambience and service was great too!

We had been told that we should visit the Café de l'Opera on La Rambla. The place is all gorgeous old world charm, with its lovely, high-ceilinged interior and somewhat dated façade. It has been in operation since 1929, so has stood the test of time. When we visited, the place was full of locals; we seemed to be the... More

We liked the service. The waiters were very nice and helpful. The inside is cosy and warm. We tried only desserts but they were tasteful and very satisfying.

Whilst visiting Barcelona with my partner back in May we popped here on our first night for a very BIG beer sitting outside watching the world go by on The Ramblas. Good service and nice beer. Looked like they have an extensive menu too.

Billed by some guidebooks as a top historic café, we stopped in to rest our aching feet and try out the hot chocolate and churros. It felt dark and cramped, with the feel of somewhere cheap. Like a themed historic café that's a bit naff rather than a place with any heritage. The churros were almost too hot to taste... More

My wife and I were looking for somewhere to have a cup of tea and coffee on a rare damp day in Barcelona and picked this place over a couple of nearby establishments because we thought it looked quaint. It took some prompting to have our order taken and the waiters were universally grumpy at best. The coffee was ok,... More

Staying in La Rambla

Neighbourhood Profile
La Rambla
Barcelona's most famous street was once a dry riverbed. Now, La Rambla is a 1200-metre boulevard, and a major draw for visitors. During the day, La Rambla fills with pedestrians, some of which stroll past impressive human statues and artists while others take a break to people-watch while enjoying a drink at one of the many terraces. Housed here is the iconic Boqueria Market that offers one of the most varied and appetising selections of local produce and specialty meats and treats. While it’s important for tourists to keep an eye on their belongings at all times, this area is most safely explored in the daytime and is a must see for everyone who visits.
