I am writing this review 6 months after the fact. What stands out to me is the service. You need reservations, and if you are early in your trip and are still eating at 7, you will be in luck. I emailed ahead of time....More

In my Barcelona Tour Cal Pep was one of the marvellous restaurant . The service was very good. Foods were delicious and the environment was very joyful. The prices were not so cheap but we were happy when we left the restaurant.

No reservations taken so you just have to wait in line. This can take a while, but they let you buy drinks while you wait. Menu is pretty much whatever is seasonal and local. The atmosphere is fun and the staff are constantly joking and...More

As a Londoner, I've frequently enjoyed visits to the small 'Barrafina' chain in London for excellent tapas. Cal Pep is the inspiration for all of those. I found the place to be excellent. Staff were laid back yet friendly. I asked for chipirrones that weren't...More

The staff are friendly but there are no menus or prices displayed for the food that is served. If there were we would not have stayed and eaten there, the prices charged for rather simple 'Tapas' food is laughable. Quality is ok but for the...More

El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent
the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But
this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually
enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few
places that live and breathe such exciting energy
regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood
seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the
city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants

Cal Pep offers a fresh and bright culinary experience with easy and quick preparations. Our restaurant concept grew from the idea of sharing the dishes, their tastes and flavours, in a 'tapas'-style. Faithful to this style, Pep invites us to enjoy light, exquisite and extremely varied dishes. Cal Pep is authentic Mediterranean cuisine, reflecting Pep's personal style and incorporating seasonal ingredients. You will enjoy fish, shellfish and fresh produce, all prepared with Pep's originality and flair. Welcome and happy dining! For a truly great tapas place, sit at the bar at old-school Cal Pep, Thomas Keller's vote for the best food in Europe. -- The Guardian The 'Tapas Institution' of Barcelona. There is no shtick here apart from superbly fresh seafood, served simply and on plates designed for sharing. -- The Telegraph
