Dined on a week night a half hour after opening to ensure we (me and husband) got a seat. Restaurant was near empty but was close to full by 10pm. Lovely touch of tasting of house wines from the barrels upon arrival. We ordered too much food for two (rabbit, lamb ribs with beans, salad, tomato bread). Would certainly return,... More

I started with the "happy" snails, which are not that good. However, for the main dish - rabbit, it was amazing. It comes in a large portion and is the best rabbit I have ever had. The pudding for dessert was great too. You also get to try the house wines for free before the meal. It's my best meal... More

This must be the world's best rabbit restaurant. Another recommendation from John Brunton - again spot on. Why do t we eat more rabbit - delicious. Wine is a bargain. Delightful super friendly service. A bit rustic - great value - and a brilliant way to bring our long Christmas break in Barcelona to an end.

They have a limited menu, but everything is so good. The setting is really nice and charming with barrels of wine kept in the entrance. Of course, their signature rabbit is the star. A safe choice place for us to take friends and family visiting Barcelona.

This out of the way restaurant is a hidden jewel of Barcelona. Tucked away in a side street it is easy to walk by. However it offers a wonderful selection of catalan cuisine. The staff are helpful and will spend time with those with little Spanish /catalonia. The food is amazing and the decor is old and quaint. On arriving... More

It's an incredibly picturesque and original place, located deep inside an old wine storage and sales cellar, with big, dark barrels everywhere, rustic tables, and farm implements adorning the walls. The staff match the place: friendly, hard-working, simple, no-nonsense, and they make you feel at home immediately. The food, however, was a bit of a letdown, As the local friend... More

We stumbled on this lovely place which gives nothing away on the outside as to the delights within. The food has hearty, large portions. The atmosphere is convivial and the room is so charming and romantic- candlelight, giant wine casks... super cool. I had a fabulous tarte tartin for dessert. The only odd thing is that the ice cream came... More

We were in the area looking to eat some tapas but instead we found this place.. it was amazing! Great food, great service and wonderful atmosphere! Doesn't seem like much from the outside but don't hesitate to walk inside, you will not regret it.

Vegetarians, this place is for you! Service is fast and efficient, the place is clean, inviting, and not old-school hippie. Most importantly, the menu is interesting, and not just stir-fry veggies. It is also a great deal: for lunch at 9.90 euros, you get a full salad bar, a choice of three entrees, and a very good dessert. There are... More

I was introduced to Can Margarit by a friend of mine who is a well-known chef in London and every time I have gone there, the food has been consistently excellent. Large portions and incredible value for money. The star dish is the rabbit with onions and garlic which is worth a trip by itself. My dining partner claimed it... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colourful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
