After walking out of another restuarant that clearly didnt like English tourists we were wandering around the back of La Rambla looking for a positive end to our week in Barcelona. We stumbled on El Gran Cafe and liked the look of it and the piano music enticed us in. We were cleared a table in the window, it was... More

I went with my family to have lunch. The restaurant looks lovely but anything more. Deficient service very slow and uncoordinate. And poor food, one of the worst paella I have eaten.

Nice restaurant with great decor. We were here in 2015 for dinner. This is the second time we have eaten here. The Hake fish and braised veal were excellent. Great service.

We stopped in here for dinner while wandering the Gothic Quarter. I had seafood paella, my wife had lobster rice - both were good, though I thought mine was better. Good wine list and nice atmosphere.

The decor is stupendous, white table cloths with live piano music and well dressed waiters. Great atmosphere in an upscale restaurant, very romantic. Food looked great from other tables, yet the service was terrible and inattentive. They also forgot my main course, and weren't so apologetic about it. Maybe you will have better luck than I did when I went.

We visited at EL GRAN CAFE eating dinner. Hmtznot were very tasty. A great variety of tapas and main dishes large and good. The restaurant is located in the Gothic Quarter, nicely decorated, and has several floors. Highly recommended !!

Great place. Great decor. In the heart of the medieval part. We had the menu, which comprised 3 courses, a bottle of nice wine, coffee and mineral water. Came to €58 for two of us which in Barcelona is cheap. It's a touristy area so don't expect the chef to come out and make friends with you, but we had... More

This is the second time we have eaten here. We like it for the ambience - a bit like a gentlemans club, deep polished wood and old fashioned lighting. For starters we asked for one portion of bread and one anchovy, and that's what we got, one anchovy! The main courses of cod and hake made up for it though,... More

The good: well positioned, great atmosphere and apparently great live music in the evening. The bad: the tapas I ordered was not good. Overly salty and otherwise tasteless. A dish derived from Majorca. The seafood stew was also over salted and lacked any delicacy.
