This is an imposing restaurant and worth a peek through the window. Is it worth entering? Not if you enjoy a comfortably heated room temperature (we wore overcoats throughout the meal). We arrived at 3.30pm and were attracted by the menu of the day displayed in the window. When the menus arrived there was no menu of the day. When... More

This really is a place from another age. Hidden in a walkway years back in time it looked interesting. We went upmarket on the food which was very good and we had a large table and a little table for the wine. Service certainly wasn't rushed but no complaints. The piano was a nice touch and we loved the music.... More

Lovely decor, staff, ambience. And very good value for the dinner menu - EUR29 per person, all in including tapas, main, dessert/coffee and a bottle of house wine and somebody tinkling on the piano. They obviously process a lot of people here, but do it well and quite stylishly. We wandered in without a reservation and the staff were friendly... More

Main reason for the score is the service. 1. We did eat until an hour after we had arrived 2. Whilst the staff were polite, one of the waiters seemed to have forgotten his uniform and was wearing a gstar raw jumper. Suitable for a rap music video but not a restaurant The food was good and there were no... More

We went here for lunch. The restaurant looked like it was going to great, however the food was disappointing. I was particularly disappointed with the prawn tapas as they weren't deveined, which was very disappointing especially for a 'fancyish' restaurant. I would not go back, there are far better and cheaper places to eat.

This restaurant has good reputation. So we decided to go for first time. The restaurant is very flashy! Looks as retro rococo. Good atmosphere. Sometimes they even have live piano music. The food is good. Like home made but in a upper scale. Staff was very attentive and offered a good service. Easy to go there by taxi, not with... More

After walking out of another restuarant that clearly didnt like English tourists we were wandering around the back of La Rambla looking for a positive end to our week in Barcelona. We stumbled on El Gran Cafe and liked the look of it and the piano music enticed us in. We were cleared a table in the window, it was... More

I went with my family to have lunch. The restaurant looks lovely but anything more. Deficient service very slow and uncoordinate. And poor food, one of the worst paella I have eaten.
