We've eaten at La Bascula several times over three or four years. The menu is limited to around eight vegi dishes including two or three vegan and a couple of snack options. There's also usually several large sponge cakes on offer alongside the usual coffee, teas, beers and a range of fruit and vegetable juices. The food has always been... More

I absolutely LOVE coming here. The sandwiches and the vegan burger are the absolute best, or the homemade icetea... and the cakes and coffees! The atmosphere is super relaxed and a bit alternative, its a vibe where everybody can just be themselves and it is all fine. The staff is friendly and helpful. Whenever I have friends or family over... More

Saw this in the rough guide and thought we'd (mum and I) try it for dinner. I'm veggie but she's not. We had lovely starters (dips, pitta, breadsticks and carrots and cucumber, and also had a mozzarella, rocket, olive and tomato salad) but there was so much lettuce and rocket! Tasty but too much! We had a cheese and mushroom... More

It's a typical former Cereria (a place where candle were made) in the very center of the city! The staff is really kind and coffee & food are great! There are high table, except for an area for disabled people!

We were looking for something else than tapas and were attracted by the menu outside. Although it wasn't a restaurant we'd normally go to we where happy we had dinner here. Yes, it looks a bit messy inside, you have to eat from recyclable plates and drink out of biodegradable cups, but it's their way of doing their best for... More

La bascula has a small menu and additional to that some daily dishes. It is affordable, prices ranging from 5€ for a huge sandwich to 8,50€ for a meal. I had a vegan sandwich with seitan which tastes great. It was just a tad oily for my liking. What's great: They have vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options, white and... More

My vegetarian self and my omnivorous friend both LOVED this restaurant. Food and drinks were amazing, and it's a lovely place. The waitress kindly wrote out a list of all the tea components and vendors for my friend, who inquired after loving their tea. C Princesa and Fiasanders have many other wonderful finds as well!

Nice atmosphere in the middle of the gothic quarter. Very friendly service and tasty veggie food serve in single-serving dishes which add to the "organic" feel. All in all, great place for lunch.

Thank Ohados

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
