The concept of the restaurant is very interesting: you get the pieces of food that you want and then by counting the number of small sticks you pay the corresponding value. In general the good is really good and the variety is high. Strongly recommended!

Perfect and creative tapas for a good price. You can choose your tapas at the bar, where all the different, I guess over 30 (meat, vegetables, fish, Salats or dessert) and take it to your place. We definitely will come back the next days!

Visited with 4 others, did not book but we were accommodated within seconds of entering, we had a wonderful meal, we had the tapas to start with, Followed by a perfect Steak, to die for. We all enjoyed our perfect meals, and I would have to recommend this friendly, happy little place for a great night out, not the cheapest... More

We arrived in Girona late for lunch, after a long hike in the mountains, and were glad to find somewhere still open at 3pm as most Spanish restaurants are closed between about 3:30 and 7:30pm. However, it was still busy and we received quick and attentive service. The Menu del dia is in Catalan, but the waiter managed to explain... More

Went to Txakala for lunch in a beautiful day in beautiful Girona. Perhaps my expectations were high, after visiting spectacular restaurants and tapas bars in Barcelona, but my overall experience was regular at best. When you find yourself putting salt in a pulpo a la gallega is because there's something wrong. The place is great and the service is very... More

I wasn't that impressed with this place. I had really high expectations and the tapas didn't really live up to them. The atmosphere was nice though.

We liked this restaurant a lot, the choice and variety of dishes was superb. So many dishes I had not tried before. You collect your food via self service and pay according to the number of plates/skewers you have had. Word of warning, if you have a very large appetite it could get expensive, but it's quite reasonably priced otherwise.... More

The Catalans said "pika-pika" - a lot of different kind of foods in small portion and you can choose what you want - fishes, meats, cheese, ... very tasty and fantastic. Very good steak and nice red wine. Very good choise for all who would like to tests the Catalanya´s foods.
