Such a bloody experience never again!! Lousy tapas food, uninterested and lazy waiters. They were more interested in one of the computers that was out of work apparently. Unfortunately I was so stupid to pay the bill...! It's a big shame that Tripadvisor recommended this restaurant on the outside. Now we know Tripadvisor's recommendation can't be trusted all the time.

It is very close to the Opera metro so the location is a touristic one. The place is nice overall but the service is one of the worst I've ever encountered in a restaurant. We had a seafood paella and the entrecot and they were very tasty. Our bill was 50euros beverages included. So it would be a 5 for... More

We had a great meal here in October 2016, it was reasonably priced (35 - 50 Euro) for two people, two courses, drinks and coffee. The food was well cooked and very nice, the staff were friendly and very patient with my lack of Spanish. Overall a nice meal, nicely decorated and in a great location

Tempted in by the 3 course lunch offer....(ignore previous reviews, what are people expecting for 13 euros!!!). Service quick, friendly and attentive. Food very tasty. Enjoyed my starter of lasagna and my partners tricolore salad looked good. Nice meat for second, followed by very nice dessert, and drink included! If you want innovative and pretentious cuisine....dont bother visiting, but if... More

I didn't except a lot because the prize of the menu was quite low. About 16€ for some tapas, a steak, a desert and a small beer was quite tempting. Should have known better... the food had no taste at all because it was not seasoned, the meat was really bad quality and even the red suggested red wine was... More

The service and attitude of staff is very poor. Not worth a visit. Food was below average and would not recommend.

Looking at some of the other reviews, I think the thing to bear in mind is that you get what you pay for. The lunch menu was €12,95 which included a drink, bread, 2 courses and then dessert or coffee. The food was nice- nothing amazing but tasty and with decent sized portions. The waiter spoke as much English as... More

Passed the sister restaurant first of all and then came to cafe Traviata Service was excellent and the food was very good. Had the set menu and I was not disappointed with the quality of the food, had that much to eat could not fit in the pudding so they wrapped it up for me to take home Thank you

I have eaten in this restaurant a few times and I have found it to be pleasant, reasonably priced and a good pasta, pizza joint. Never going to be high end dinning but good at what it does.

Way overcooked, rubbery chicken and unchewable rice in the paella. Too too much salt. The grilled fish was undercooked. Sangria was bland. Don't waste your money.

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
