It was an adventure finding this tiny cafe off the beaten tourist track in Madrid. The decor is very simple, as are the furnishings, but if you are a lover of barrista quality coffee, you will not be disappointed. The young man who was making...More

We loved this tiny restaurant, ordering several dishes that arrived singly at the table so we could share each one--Mussels, spicy chicken, steak, each one prepared with a certain flair and excellent flavor, sometimes an unusual spice-tarragon or anise.

Toma is my favourite restaurant in Madrid, the only one that I make sure to eat in each time I visit, and usually more than once. The menu is less expansive than the bafflingly large tapas menus you'll find in most Spanish restaurants, but this...More

I was there a few years ago already, but I still remember my visit. Nice little place, like maximum 15 people can be seated at one time, but therefore cosy. Not really centrally located, but therefore more 'real' Spanish, instead of 'tourist' Spanish. Good food!...More

Finally a café in Spain that doesn't use UHT milk for the coffee! Nice espresso machine too ;) I would highly recommend stopping by for a coffee and one of their home-baked cakes - yum!

Went to Toma for brunch. Couldn't find it, locals never heard of it. When we did find it, the location was not the best, no outside seating and was very, very small. Not a place I want to hang.

What can I say about this restaurant? Firstly I looked for about 30 minutes in this area for a restaurant! I chose the one with the better choice of the menu of the day. The one that excited me more! Boy was I right! Although...More

The menu is very short, like 10 plates, only about 3 were vegetarian (vegetarian means you don´t eat fish), so I don´t know why this restaurant is soposed to be vegetarian. The athmosphere was good although the restaurant is very small and looks more like...More

As an American living in Madrid for 12 years and in the neighborhood for the last 5, I can say that TOMA is a favorite. Mac is an American chef who serves really good fusion food for a reasonable price. The atmosphere is cozy, too...More

Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music
venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair,
narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the

outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents,
and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on
the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as
many other parts of the city, but this only adds to
