We visited this restaurant based on the TripAdvisor recommendations and were not disappointed at all. Skipping the sushi for once we had some excellent sashimi and went on to some more original food (e.g., eel stew) which was very nice indeed. Agreeing with other reviews here, this place truly recalled pleasant restaurants in Japan in the making and quality of... More

Good Japanese food although its not my top Japanese restaurant in Madrid. A bit on the expensive side, the service was very good. Very difficult to park in that area of Madrid so be careful.

First of all i'm certainly no expert on the matter since i've never been to Japan, but I like Japanese food. And in case of Sake Dining Himawari, I like it a lot. The menu was a bit of a struggle since it was in Spanish and Japanese. Our Spanish is not that good and our Japanese is non-existent. There... More

I have always gone back to Himawari because of the food. The service is always tops too, but it's the food that makes me feel like I'm hanging out in my local Japanese Izakaya back in Japan. (except the food is slightly more elaborate here) The point I want to make is that it is authentic to the max. If... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
