We had previously visited a sister Moroccan restaurant nearby and having found it to our tastes thought we'd give Kim Bu Mbu a try. Disappointed; not in the slightest. It was a thoroughly delightful evening the staff being sufficiently attentive without being obtrusive and the food was fabulous. An experience we won't forget quickly. We enjoyed the set menu with... We stopped in here when the restaurant we had chosen for diner didn't have any customers at all, so we were not anxious to try it. We found another nice place very close by filled with locals.

We were a party 9. We set a €20 menu, it included a huge amount of food: starters, main courses and desserts and a bottle of wine every 3 persons. The food is more mediterranean than African. The decoration is nice and the service attentive. The menu includes a few vegetarian options. The chicken and the prawns we tried were... More

Checked the place, furnishing and dining place are all pretty nice, warm and nice looking. Chairs made of metal aren't that comfortable but look cool. From meals and options on the menu standpoint.. hard to say where these are from. Ingredients aren't from western not eastern Africa, food is really sweet (we are taking about sugar here) so be warned.... More

Visited this restaurant whilst on a city break with a group of friends. The food was really enjoyable, particualrly the starters, and the restaurant itself is quite lovely. The downside was the very surly & unhelpful waitresses, this might seem unimportant but I like to feel that my custom is appreciated when I'm spending hard earned money. I would go... More

Fantastic african restaurant. We spent a fantastic evening at the Kim Bu Mbu. Many delicious dishes with a great variance of veggies and meat / fish. In addition to this, the value for money was fantastic. I was really surprised when we asked for the check. Recommendation: Book a table in advance. Hope to have the possibility to come again... We visited this restaurant after reading the review in the Lonely Planet guide. We tried the degustation menu. It was really good. New and special tastes. The house wine was delicious. The service was good, although the English of the staff was poor, also only Spanish menu's are available. However, they tried to make themselves clear. We paid around 40... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
